Indian Lotus Restaurant and Takeaway — Restaurant in Canterbury

Trying to support a local business, our family has ordered twice from Indian Lotus, the first time was a couple of years ago when we ordered via the website but did not receive a confirmation via email and were told when I called to check that the order had not come through. No worries, I figured it happens and technology has its moments. We placed the order again via phone, waited for another 20-25 mins to collect and the food was fine.

Last night I thought I’d try again via the website, placing an order at 6:05pm and receiving confirmation of payment but no ETA for pick up. At 6:35pm we went to collect the order thinking that should be plenty of time, but once again were told that despite the email confirmation and despite the money being taken from my account, no order had been received. Again, we placed the order and waited for around 20 mins for the food, which was fine, but unremarkable (we had butter chicken, chicken tikka masala and naan).

I’m not sure why this restaurant still has the option to order online when it clearly doesn’t work. Going by the response I got from staff this is a regular occurrence, which might be acceptable if the food was amazing, but doesn’t seem worth putting up with for a meal similar to what you’d get in a mall food court. We will be going elsewhere...

Delicious food!

We ordered over the website and tried to pay but it didn’t work so paid when it was delivered. Only issue was it didn’t give us a estimated delivery time so we waited 45 minutes then called to make sure it had gone through - it had but the food wasn’t delivered until 1hr 15mins after we ordered (and we live close). This is understandable on a busy Saturday night but being given an estimated delivery time would be a great improvement 😊

We got the mixed platter - yummy food! Everything was tasty and hot. Also tried the chicken manchurian - hadn’t tried this before, it was quite tasty. And got a garlic and a cheese and garlic naan - these were delicious!

Overall, highly recommend - but maybe expect a long wait...

Have had Indian Lotus a few times now and I feel like there is potentially 2 chefs as the first couple of times it was amazing then it was absolutely terrible so we thought ok it's just an off night. Tried again and it was good but the next 3 times have all been terrible. Consistency is key and this place lacks it. When it's good it's great but when it's bad you don't even want to eat it and unfortunately it's bad more than it's good. It's very expensive also which would be fine if the quality was on point. As a family of 7 who spend $160 a meal for takeaways we need quality and value. This place is a...
