I visited The Brook Bar on a Sunday afternoon and was left very disappointed. I initially asked for the pork bites but was told the kitchen was closed, and only a snack menu was available. I chose the chicken wings instead.
When the meal arrived, I was immediately put off by the look and smell of the chicken—it simply didn’t seem right. The taste confirmed my concerns; it was not enjoyable and felt far below acceptable standards. I approached the male manager to explain the issue and asked if I could swap the meal for nachos or receive a refund. He refused both requests, stating that no one else had complained that day. Instead, I was offered a takeaway box, which didn’t address the quality issue I had just raised.
I left promptly without a replacement meal or a refund. The lack of concern from the management was especially disappointing. Unfortunately, this experience has made me reluctant to return, and I hope this feedback prompts the team to take customer concerns more seriously...
Read moreMy experience at the Brook Bar , The Brook Bar : as we walked through the doors you could sense it is more of a public bar than restaurant (no partitions or separation between the two ) as we were seated the noise and atmosphere was pretty full on from the public bar side (probably not the right place if your after a slightly quite night to go for a meal. THE FOOD: The one thing that surprised me was presentation of food was simply outstanding (note to self take photo of plate lol )it looked like a 5 star restaurant but as the saying gose don't judge a book by its cover.........well let me tell you as good as it looked ,it tasted simply outstanding the two other people withme were saying the same The only issue is portion sizes portions need to be balance (nit picking really lol) but overall absolutely outstanding this is just my opinion best thing id say is go and visit the brook and experience for yourself ENJOY.....ps parking is an issue if the...
Read moreStandards have slipped. Today was pretty bad, to be brutally honest.
I have been coming here quite regularly for the Roast Dinners, which are usually tender and well trimmed, with elegantly sliced and well presented vegetables, accompanied by good quality gravy and other sauces.
The roast beef was tough and fatty, the Yorkshire pudding was overcooked and very dry. The gravy was jelly-like and lacking flavour, and there was only a tiny spoonful of horseradish in the accompanying ramakin. The vegetables, were cooked adequately but lacked the aforementioned elegance.
The roast pork was 40% fat and the crackling smelt and tasted of fish. The vegetables were cooked and presented as above and there was barely a hint of gravy on the plate.
Had this of been my first time here at the Brook, unfortunately it would most...
