Absolutely shocking Service. We made a booking for my birthday in March this year . When making the booking we checked that they were still doing there Monday night Steak meal special and they assured us that yes they definitely were. So we made the booking for Monday night the day of my birthday. So I was really looking forward to drive from ChCh to Ohoka and to my steak dinner in the country for my birthday. We arrived at Platform and told them we have a booking and gave our name. The person said sorry we can't honour your booking our kitchen has just closed and we no longer do the Monday Night steak meal special. So we had to leave and I was so disappointed and then had the stress of trying another restaurant to dine at,at short notice .
Update: The Platform Bar and Restaurant responded to my above review saying we arrived after 8pm this is not true we arrived before 8pm.Also they claim they tried to ring us at 7:45pm there was no evidence of this on our landline phone.No message left and no number on caller ID.Even if their phone number was private it still would have showed on caller ID the word Private and time of the call. Also ringing on landline was pointless as we would not have answered or got any message as we were arriving at restaurant.They did not try to ring me on my cellphone either .I had my phone with me and on and if they had rung and I for some reason did not hear my phone so missed the call my phone would have shown missed call and the time of the missed call. So I don't believe that they rang me on landline or cellphone.Also they claim that we were not told that they do not do the Monday night steak special. Read moreMy wife and I decided to go out for a meal, as we live in Oxford going out for a meal somewhere nice is a bit of an effort due to travel etc. on the 13 of March we thought we would like to head to the platform and do so as in the past we have had a pleasant experience, however this time was not the case. After ordering food and a couple of drinks we were told to take a seat and our drinks would be over. After waiting 10 or so minutes our drinks arrived, we then proceeded to change tables to which we notified staff to their acknowledgement,. 25 minutes later our food was with no cutlery that proceeded to arrive 5 minutes later. My wife had a couple of bites of her $45 steak she had asked for medium rare and proceeded to tell me it was a little rare for liking and would she be rude if she asked for it to be cooked a little more, I said surely not so she did. She was then given her plate back and told it wasn’t going to be long, so we sat for another 10 minutes with her potatoes etc going cold. So after 10 minutes or more of waiting what was mean to be a lovely meal together turned into a shit show of a display of customer service and I had had enough. Well at the bar trying to sort this out I was told oh the steak is ready at the counter! Not my problem I’m the customer and an unhappy one at that. So we went home unhappy with a hungry wife! Read moreWouldn’t go back. The restaurant was empty when we arrived to collect our takeaways and the chef appeared to be talking to the front of house staff (they weren’t busy) but yet they missed both the chicken and bacon in our “creamy chicken carbonara”.
The pasta was not only missing some of the main ingredients but wasn’t cooked properly either; it was clumpy and crunchy in parts where it hadn’t been separated. (We thought peas and capsicum in a carbonara was also a weird choice but that’s just us... Given it was missing the other ingredients it just tasted like a capsicum sauce.)
The pizza was OK but the kids were reluctant to eat it as it fell apart due to the base being uneven and soggy from the sauce in areas - we ended up with piles on our plates we had to eat with a knife and fork.
Update after fairly irritating response from the owner: This was most certainly the Platform bar in Mandeville/Ohoka - same block of shops as the NDP.
I received my online order confirmation at 5.19pm on the 7th of feb 2021 - we collected from 468 Mandeville road about 15-20mins later. I posted photos of this food on Trip advisor which show there is very clearly capsicum (was yellow, orange and red varieties) and peas in this pasta; also clearly no bacon or chicken and uncooked.
Perhaps instead of writing off a review as the reviewer being incompetent and selecting the wrong restaurant you might like to consider how to improve your service...
