On a 3 week roadtrip of NZ, we were sampling pies all across the country. We visited Waimate with the intention of trying a Wallaby pie down the road, but were disappointed to learn they no longer existed. Luckily, we came to this place instead! The vibe inside the place is a little sterile, but the pies were phenomenal! We ordered a vegetarian and a pulled pork pie. Paired with their $10 pie and salad lunch deal, these were possibly (and a bit unexpectedly) the best pies of the trip. The flavours of both were excellent, the pastry was delicious and they were full. The vegetarian especially was a standout. I'd have one every week if this place was near me. The salads were also delicious. Highly recommend checking this place out!

After driving around the South Island for days, this is the first place with a vegetarian option and fresh salad. Been craving some culinary variety and this place unexpectedly delivered! There's gluten free and vegan options. Lovely staff, quick service, warm environment, albeit a little bare from an interiors perspective. There's a outdoor seating and kids play area, and clean toilets. Nice crockery, drinking water on tap, and overall clean and comfortable and very adorably-priced.

Appreciated the friendly effecient staff. Theres beautifully presented cabinet food with a nice selection and well priced. The beef pasties we purchased for takeaway were housed in a cardboard box with a side of tomato sauce and a black serviette. Such nice attention to detail. The Pasties $8 each were large and full of very tasty beef mince wrapped in buttery crispy pastry. Wish I had bought more to freeze. Thanks for running such a good business.

Latte was hot, coffee tasted ok- nothing special. I had the steak and gravy pie. The pastry was just cooked on the bottom which made it a bit soggy. The contents were ok, Gravy wasn't smooth which means they left too much fat in the sauce and sadly you could taste it. The steak was cooked beautifully, but I did get a little sinew.. which ruined it for me. I'll be back but may try something else. We also shared a ham croissant - that was fresh and yum.

It's very echoey because of the high ceilings. They need some softer furnishings or art work to...

Lovely big open modern space. Very echoey but it’s fine. Bread is phenomenal, sweet pastries are too, have yet to try their pies but if appearances are anything then I’m certain they will be delicious. The sandwich offerings are odd, sometimes the flavour profiles seem a bit dated or confused, way too many pork options (NZ is obsessed with pork, bleh) and it seems that one of the makers is a bit stingy as some days the sandwiches just look…sad.

All in all though a great addition to Waimate, I’m sure the locals really...
