We were looking for somewhere we've not been to for brunch, and I found this place. I never realized it was a cafe but thought it was a plant store. First of all, the place is cute with outdoor seating and a spacious indoor area. The menu was extensive, with lots of options for food and drinks. They have matcha here, but also a selection of other specialty drinks as well. We got a rose and berry latte just to try. The rose latte didn't evoke rose a lot, but I tasted cinnamon or star anis or some sort of spice a bit more. The berry latte was similar to a berry flavoured milkshake, quite sweet but pleasant. The lattes were served in a quirky cone-shaped cup with its own little stand. The food portions were very big and generous, I think we could have shared some dishes, because we had a lot of leftovers after the meal. The fried chicken waffles were pretty good, the chicken had some spices reminiscent of Indian flavours; very crispy on the outside and succulent enough on the inside. The pulled pork burger had a tiny bit of heat to it, I enjoyed it but it was served on a chopping board barely wide enough for it, so a quarter of the contents ended up on the table. The staff were very friendly, and it had a nice environment. Overall a very lovely experience, I would return again if I'm in the area.

This place might just be my new favorite place. This is definitely the BEST chicken salad I have had ever in NZ. It's definitely a lot of food. I couldn't actually finish it. The sauce is not to sweet (thank goodness for that!) My son had the butter chicken pie. The pastry (like all pies in NZ in our experience) are still a bit raw at the top, however the filling was a 10 out of 10. The side salad it came with was impressive. The atmosphere: It's cozy and homey but it's super load in here. The eco is quite something. We will be back. Will recommend.

Fathers Day Lunch and had made a booking for 3 people. Place was busy on ordering was told that it would be 40-60 min for the food.

It was cold inside and we had to move as there was a cold breeze through one of the open sides. It felt like they forgot that we had ordered food and drinks as the place emptied out and there were only a few tables left, all of which appeared to have been forgotten. Meals eventually came out after reminding the staff on a couple of occasions and even then it took three attempts for them to get it right. The time between the first meal being brought out and the 3rd meal was about 20-25 minutes, we had to remind them about the drinks that arrived 10 minutes after. I had pretty much finished my meal before the 3rd meal was brought out.

The waffles brought out for one of the meals were hard as rocks and the sauce looked like it had been sat for hours as it had congealed on the top.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse
a large canvas picture blew off the mantelpiece behind my elderly parents and landed square on their heads. The waitress apologised profusely and I felt sorry for her as she was really trying to be helpful. The owner did not come over and when we were leaving we went to speak to her and she made excuses that they had only owned the place for 6 weeks, not sure the owner quite got the point that what happened could have been avoided, that and they should have been getting my fathers details for their accident register.

We left with a complementary selection of cakes from the cabinet, unfortunately no amount of sweets can remove the bitter taste and sick feeling seeing my father on Father’s Day upset and walking out with a headache.

It just looked like they had got too greedy and crammed in more people than their team could cope with. They definitely had bitten off more than they could chew.

Will I go back there again,...

We made our booking for mother’s day, days in advance. We specifically requested a high chair. when we arrived the high chairs were unavailable despite us booking one meaning I had to hold my daughter on my lap for quite some time until one became available. Secondly, about 40% of the menu wasn’t available. Thirdly, it took no less than an hour for our food to be prepared. We planned a 10am reservation specifically to work around our routine. Patrons around us were frustrated. My 2 year old was frustrated and started losing patience, my 4 year old was hangry. Kindly, the lovely waitress brought out some marshmallows to keep him going. She noticed that the kids were getting upset and offered some toys and books to try and help. The food when it did arrive was delicious, however by this point my 2YO had absolutely had enough and I had to have mine to go. Not the mother’s day brunch we had planned. In future, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to advise your customers that there will be an hours wait for food so we can decide if we would like to order. If we had known, we would’ve probably picked somewhere else or ordered and come back after an hour so the kids didn’t get bored. The tables next to ours were just us frustrated and we felt obliged to apologise for our kid’s behaviour, luckily they were super understanding knowing how patiently they were waiting until the food simply took too long. Also, maybe a good idea to get additional...
