Really not happy, Not happy with Tamarinds food, Nor service, Went in with myself and 3 friend's to an Empty/Quite Tamarind, First off, When ordering, We weren't offered or told about the (Lunch Deal) until I had brought it up/asked about the (Lunch Deal) To have the server roll his eyes and reply with a very not enthusiastically "Yes", We waited approximately an hour before we were severed our food, The (1) medium bowl of rice had been sitting on the counter top for a good 20 mins before we were severed the food, So as common sense would have it the rice was now dead cold, An to our surprise the rice wasn't sitting on the counter for the reason of the Currys been prepared, So they would come out (Hot) They also were on the closer side to been cold, Not warm, Nor hot, COLD, Fken cold, Yum, Now let's add the part where we had asked for (6) Nam bread, To be served 1 hole piece & 2 triangle bits, That looked like they had been cooked last night an had been reheated, Then when I asked if that would be all the Nam bread we were gonna be served, The server said it would be a 20 minute wait as there hasn't been any made up, An "I just made these quickly for you guys an deep fried them" An to have waited over an hour to just finish, Not even really finish our meals in 5 minutes,
Seriously be straight up if you don't have eveything prepared, Or have what is required, No biggie I/We would've been happy to of waited a lil longer, Especially if it had all came out hot, Or we would've been happy to of lefted and gone else where,
You're lucky the people I came with aren't inconsiderate people, I would've an should've just walked out an not paid, But enjoy my $78.00, Cause I definitely didn't enjoy the food that $78.00 costed, Definitely never...
Read moreI'm really hoping that my experience is a one off. The food was pretty good, but the whole meal was severely let down by terrible customer services. I called ahead of time and made my order over the phone and was advised of a 20 minute preparation time. I arrived 20 minutes later and was a little taken back when the server asked me for my entire order all over again. I paid for my food and the server advised me at this point that the things were going slowly and that it would take another 10 minutes for my food to be ready. I waited for another 20 minutes with no update and approached again to see how much longer it would take. The same server advised me that my Naan bread was being prepared and my whole order would be ready in 2 minutes. Another 10 minutes later (Now 50 minutes after my original phone order) I approached the counter again, asking for an update. The server said it was being dished up. Another 7 minutes later (I was counting by now) the chef came out of the kitchen, with my meal in a bag, repeated my order and then handed me my food without even a miniscule apology. If I had been advised of the an appropriate time frame at the very beginning, it wouldn't have been so bad, and I would have happily come an hour after my phone call to pick up my meal, but I was brushed off three different times with embellished info that pretty much just pissed me off. One of the golden rules applies here: "Honesty is the best policy". I just feel like I was fobbed off and not really valued as a customer. An apology would have gone a long way to smoothing it over, but unfortunately, not even that was forthcoming. I certainly hope that if I ever go back (for a second visit) that I'm not subjected to this kind of customer...
Read moreWTF? Previous visits here have been dequate with good service until the past couple of months when service was slow at best. Tonight, we waited for a drink order to be taken, we waited for the drinks which arrived after the order for food was taken, I waited ages for my gin - a simple G&T - which I saw being prepared but two lots of takeaway custoemrs were served whilst I died of thirst. Then the appetizer arrived - with the side of pickle that should have come with the main..., then the entree arrived ONE HOUR after we arrived... and finally the mains - my "Indian Hot" was European mild to say the least, the roti was delivered smothered in butter even though my order was dairy-free, and my partner's naan hadn't arrived at all. The old woman cashier spoke to the kitchen and the woman there glared at her (in full view of us) and I finally had had enough so spoke to the old woman cashier who was all too quick to blame it on the new waitress (not her fault) and started to argue about it instead of accept blame and try and put it right. All the while the chef leaned over the kitchen counter and thought it was a great joke - is this how you run a successful business? Tamarind has gone down the tubes and has no right to proffer itself as a restaurant. We would've had superior service going to McDonalds. This place should be ashamed. I won't mention the weird decor or the jazz music playing. Oops, I did. Not toomany great restaurants alternatives in Gisborne. Best to buys omething at the inadequate supermarkets andcook up something at home. Give this place...
