Archies Coffee & Kitchen — Restaurant in Hamilton

I want to give this place 1 star and 5 stars at the same time. Comfy, spacious, warm, has everything you need. Yet the coffee was average and the food mediocre to poor.

I ordered a decaf because they have freshly ground supreme decaf, which is awesome, but it came out over extracted (burnt taste). I asked them to make it again and it came up better but a bit under extracted. Oh well.

I had the goodness bowl - I can never eat anything at cafes cos of food intolerances, so I was stoked. But it came out totally drenched in teriyaki sauce and with broccoli that tasted really off (how do you make broccoli taste off I don't know).

These flaws are totally fixable, and in many ways it's a nice place to be - short and pleasant walk from the playground, has a play area for the kids, nicely decorated etc. I guess they just need a better barista and a...

Archie's breakfast was a solid bid breakfast meal, the chorizo's and has browns were the highlight of the dish!

In terms of service, the dishes don't come out in order of when they were ordered - other tables who came afterwards received their food first and even some people on the same table to ordered after got their food first too. For one of the few Archie's breakfast that our table ordered, we ordered scrambled but for fried instead. The kitchen made a pork belly eggs benedict which seems like no one at the cafe ordered at the time and they went around asking tables, then when someone from our table ordered it, they just served that one which was already cooled down...

ok food, the wait staff had no knowledge about the chicken, whether it was free range or not ( though they did enquire and thought it probably was) my coffee was very bland but the main thing was no atmosphere, gleaming white walls plate glass windows ,with the sun pouring in concrete floors, and we could easily hear other customers conversation, headache inducing. I didn't finish my coffee and was glad to leave, we usually spend at least an hour chatting...
