We have visited this restaurant for lunch because we were quite hungry and read that it was the best restaurant in town on various websites. I am not sure how the dinner differs so I just review the lunch I had which was roast of the day, pork belly, beetroot salad and macadamia parfait.

Unfortunately I fail to understand the hype at all. The ingredients were of good quality but the taste and seasoning and cooking style was totally off. It basically tastes like English food in every way- and this is not a compliment. It looked good but it was bland. The salad was way too sweet, the veggies were way too mushy, the sauce with the pork belly was awefully english. The meat was okay and the gravy was pretty standard but also a bit bland and lacked seasoning. The Macadamia parfait was good though, but I would definitely never recommend this pace to any person who is...

Went here for dinner the other night with a group. Meals were so small, especially for the price they charge! My partner had the monk fish and there were 3 lousy sized pieces, no flavour, rubbery and two bones were found! Not worth the nearly $30 price point! Half an asparagus (not even the nice half) and half a potato! I got the roast which was pork. Veggies were fine and at least there were a few but the pork lacked so much flavour. Pretty bland - again for the price we were paying! Didn’t get dessert as didn’t want to pay $15 for what would most likely be a tiny portion. Had to stop at McDonalds on the way home!! On top of that service was bad! Our waitress was dopey and rude and never apologised for drinks that were forgotten about and never smiled! Will not recommend this place and will not...

I'm sorry to say but this was one of the worst places I've eaten for $30 per dish. Staff are really nice and professional, but the food is bland and flavourless, as in, it was not even seasoned with salt and pepper. I ordered the grilled gurnard that was limp and soggy (potentially microwaved?) served with undercooked veges and slimy prawns. Chips were also cold and under-fried. My family ordered the beef which literally was a block of meat that was seemed to be boiled from the pot and chucked on the plate without any seasoning or sauces, the roast pork was dry with equally stale roast veges. The highlight was the roast pumpkin, which was actually quite sweet and delicious.

Cannot say that this was worth the money paid, but thankful for the kind staff and good...

Very disappointed. It really was a bad experience. The portions and quality of the food are far from what they charge for them. In a group of 5 only 1 was satisfied with the food ( it was a regular salad). The rest of the food was awful. The salmon was crazy salty, the chicken had an extremely strong and bad flavour and the fish was awful. We had to send back the fish and change it for another salad. It was kind of weird, because it was the 2nd salad and it supposed to be the same as the 1st, but it had a different flavour and presentation. The service was surprisingly bad, compared with the rest of New Zealand. Sadly I cannot recommend this place.

Lovely atmosphere, hadn't been here for a number of years and nicely surprised at the dining experience we had. The restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful, the meals were full of flavor well presented and rather big, I certainly couldn't eat both entree and main in full. Looking at all the meals coming from the kitchen and the empty plates going back one can only say that this is a place to dine when in Invercargill.
