We stopped in Rawene to go to The Boatshed Cafe which was unfortunately closed for a function on 9 April 2022. There were not many other options in Rawene for food, but we saw this cafe was open. It was 12.50pm so we were looking for lunch. We stood looking at the menu for about 5 minutes before we decided what we wanted and approached the counter. When we went to order we were told “the kitchen is closed for cleaning” we asked how long that might be for she replied “a while..” and then said “you can get cabinet food or coffee” but with not many options in the cabinet apart from some muffins we decided to leave and try our luck in Opononi. Perfect place for a breakfast, lunch or dinner. It was open late on Sat (til 8pm) as we discovered, after finding the takeaway up the road closed at 6!! The New Era Cafe food was delicious, clean and prices were a bit Aucklandish, however we were happy to find this quality place.
