Stopped here during our drive home to Wellington from Auckland. I came in with my two under threes while my husband parked the car and sort the dog outside.When arrived at the restaurant they stared at me. After ordering I went to the toilet with the kids. One of the guys were knocking at the toilet for a long time asking 'is it takeaway food' very creepy... i answered him. 30 seconds later he comes back and knocks on the door again saying something else???? I finally sat down and the guy comes to me and said 'please go through the rubbish in the toilet and take childrens nappies with you'. I told him the nappies were empty and he said i must pick it up. We were passing through after a very long trip from Rotorua, the only place open - and weren't we joyfully surprised that the superb service, and delicious food. Nothing was too much trouble! I asked for tea, and we got a delicious masala chai. The onion bhaji was the best I've ever had. We had three dishes, the portions were a good size, it was fresh and flavoursome. So good! I especially want to call out person serving us. superb in all ways - especially noting that it was at the end of service. The restaurant is under new management and it is noticeable. It is nice and warm inside. Great atmosphere. Food is fantastic as always, we usually stop here a couple of times per year when passing through. Portions are much bigger now. The presentation of the food is high end and the taste is amazing. Our favourite is butter chicken and madras lamb. We tried a new chefs special, lababdar chicken it was very tasty with different kinds of nuts.
