Lancewood Lodge — Hotel in North Island

I have never felt more disrespected in my life. Rhys and his mother were unwilling to see reason. They both thought that our immobile 85 kuia (grandmother) should have walked down the gravel driveway at 11pm at night. There was absolulety no reasoning with them as to why we would quietly drive her down that driveway to the bedroom door. He threatened multiple times to kick us out and to phone the police - which I now wish he had! Atleast then there would be a record of the incident.

The room itself is not what you expect. It is definately not advertised as a dusty,dirty shack next to the storage room and a untouched / messy room with a pool table.

I would not reccomend this...

I enjoyed my stay!

Bulls is located a nice distance between Wellington and Auckland, and gave us a chance to get to Auckland comfortably in one day after arriving in Wellington on the ferry. So I'd recommend the location for people on the same journey.

The lodge was very tidy, with a great garden, and some cool cats casually hanging about. Beds were very comfy, and everything that we could have needed was at hand.

The host Rhys was really friendly, and welcomed us after a last minute booking as we arrived late at night, just before the office closing time at 10pm.

I'd definitely recommend...

Spacious, clean and comfortable room. Met by owner on arrival, given a tour of facilities, then left alone in peace.||A convenient place to stay before a midday ferry sailing, when driving from Auckland or the Waikato. Off the highway, set well back from the street, quiet location.||Share bathrooms, TV in a communal room. Not a problem during my one night visit as there was only one other guest.||Continental breakfast provided, but did not partake, no assessment provided.||Would definitely consider...
