Cable Bay Cafe — Restaurant in Nelson

It was my worst experience in NZ, and one of the worst lunches ever!!! The food was more expensive than in other touristic places, and much worst quality. Salty, little portions. After waiting 20 minutes for a salad, i found a big piece of plastic in it. I got no apologize! (and I really ask myself about the sanitary conditions in their kitchen!) "Oh, a plastic.. shall I make you another salad? Do you have enough water?". After ordering coffee with cake, they brought the cake and 15 minutes later - the cold coffee. When we expressed our disappointment the apparently owner of the place answered in a very irritated way. So I definitely recommend...

Coffee was fantastic! Smooth and really enjoyable. The bagels are really nice. In terms of food, I was hoping for more choice as the offering was bagel toasties which were tasty and well made and then a few cabinet cakes. If I’d checked the menu before visiting I wouldn’t have been surprised by the limited selection, so that’s on me. Can’t say enough good stuff about the coffee though, was so good! I’d drive out to Cable Bay just to have a coffee and would be quite happy. Stunning location as your view is out over the bay and the island - nature all around! Friendly smiling staff!...

Walked here from Pepin Island (staying in a hut) and it is soooo worth it!! The most delicious homemade Bagels - literally the best Bagels I've ever had in my life. We had the Salmon with homemade cream cheese and it was outstanding. Their cabinet baked goods also look delicious! The menu is very simple but these guys have nailed the theory of 'do one thing and do it well'. 100% recommend to all and will come back. Also lovely atmosphere and places to sit with...
