I feel Cafe 35’s reputation proceeds them now and in a not so good way.

We didn’t have a terrible experience, but nothing shined. People in Opotiki and Gisborne recommended we stop so when we finally did the “long way” round the East cape we did and left disappointed.

Not a fan of paua, we had the pork belly pie, a blueberry muffin, flat white and banana milkshake. Pie was fine, nice buttery crust; muffin was dry and blueberries were all clumped at the bottom; I did not enjoy my coffee, ordered a medium and it wasn’t a good espresso to milk ratio; banana milkshake was good once we finally got it...

After ordering and walking away from the counter, someone brought out the pie, then a few minutes later the coffee, and after ten minutes I went in search of the other items we ordered. Had to ask about the milkshake and if the muffin was self-serve...Server started the milkshake and said I could grab a muffin myself. They weren’t busy so that’s not the reason for poor service, felt like lack of enthusiasm to me.

There is a nice shaded patio with ample seating, free wifi, and the place has a clean toilet. If you need to break up the drive it’s there however, I wouldn’t recommend making a...

Went here today to try the pies to see what the hype was about and man they werent wrong, This compared to auckland and whangarei nothing compares to the cafe 35, as a guy who loves his food and is abit of a food critic, I enjoyed this alot, Got the Mince and cheddar and porkbelly pie, And man the pie is packed with meat, Flavour, juices and last of all a splash of love! that first bite just makes you want more and more! for the price aswell is mint! and worth it!

Customer service was wonderful, Told them that the pies were great and the reaction was just beautiful! Defs will come back here when i travel again!

Can Drinks could be lowered to $2.50 but hey no biggy i was happy with the outcome anyway!

For anyone looking who travels and does adventures, Hit this spot if so! you will be in for...

We were looking forward to staying in Tokomaru Bay so we could visit Cafe 35. We were told about the amazing pies and hubby wanted to try the Paua pie. It didn’t disappoint! So full of filling and paua, pastry was flaky and delicious. I had the pork belly pie - I don’t usually eat pies, but it was sooo good and so full of filling. Our little dog was welcomed and we sat in the cozy under cover area at the back of cafe, our dog was given a piece of crackling! The coffee was very good too. There were many other goodies in cabinet all looked very tasty. Prices were very good. We went back the next day for coffees and pies...

Have been wanting to visit here for a couple of years and finally got to go today. The pies were amazing, as was the the coffee. Paua pie 10/10, creamy rich, savory, like kai Moana chowder in a pie 🤤, Mushroom, Blue cheese and spinach was amazing 9/10, loaded full of mushrooms, creamy enough to hold it together, with a tiny hint of lemon that cuts the richness. Coffee, wow..it takes me a bit to rave, but a 💯 perfect coffee. Cheerful service , thanks guys. Might be a while till we get back, but I'm already looking forward to it!
