Khem and the rest of the Great Spice team catered for our wedding. The team was so kind, friendly, and generous. From the very beginning Khem said to us "if you need anything, don't worry, just let us know and we will take care of it". They helped make the entire wedding planning and catering process so easy. The best part was that since our wedding was bringing Sri Lankan culture and Indian culture together, we hired caterers for both cuisines. Khem and the Great Spice team brought the Indian culture to our wedding with their delicious food, and they worked so well together with our Sri Lankan caterers too. Authentic Indian Cuisine – A Must-Visit in Tauranga!

We visited Great Spice Otumoetai over the long weekend while visiting Tauranga, and it was an absolute delight! Being Indian, we are quite particular about authentic flavors and not easily satisfied, but this place was spot on.

The food was rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced, just like a true Indian meal should be. The standout dishes for us were: • Vegetable Manchurian – Crispy, tangy, and packed with flavor. • Paneer Lababdar – Creamy, well-spiced, and absolutely delicious. • Delhi-style Butter Naan – Soft, fluffy, and the perfect accompaniment. • Gajar Ka Halwa – The perfect sweet ending, just like homemade!

The service was warm and welcoming, with friendly staff who ensured a great dining experience. The ambiance was inviting, making our visit even more enjoyable.

I was visiting for work and popped into this place based on reviews. The food admittedly is pretty good but the restaurant is very dated and in need of a good de-odoriser since it had a musky smell which is typical of restaurants in need of a good clean and ventilation. What disappointed me however was the service. They had double booked my table without my knowledge and asked me to leave mid way through my dinner. I was on the phone with a friend and the server interrupted my call and said that she didn’t realise that the table I was at was already reserved and that I had 10 mins to finish my meal and leave. It ended my night pretty abruptly.
