The Copper Kettle is gone ..... I guess things change.. it not only has a new name, but it now has a very contemporary look .... I like the concept and the fit out - it’s very urban chic .... I am disappointed about the other changes though ... no more self service to a huge variety of sandwiches and pies ... they do it for you ... which, in itself is not bad .... but the Cheese and Onion Sandwiches - something this place was famous for ... was so disappointing ... did they toss a block of cheese and a couple of onions in a blender and blitz it until it was a paste to smear on the sandwiches? ... the sandwich was very disappointing ... the coffee was bitter .... and there was no raw sugar option - only white sugar and equal - now, normally, I wouldn’t expect raw sugar at cafe in Ngatea ... but with the new urban chic look - it’s an expectation .... I really hope the owner of this place reads all the reviews and focus’s on the negative feedback to improve their business ..... lets see if its better the next...

We decided to stop here on a rainy day on our way home , After ordering our food we had to clear a table as none where clear , when the server arrived with our coffees she mentiond how "Horrible Soy smells" and complianed about making coffee all day, My partners drink was undrinkable and bitter (Odd for a Hazel nut Latte) thankfully saved by the Steak and cheese pie which was very good , After 25mins i had to go to the kitchen to find the Fish and Chips i had ordered only to be told it was "Almost Ready" after telling them id been 25mins he quickly ran back into the kitchen , Finally my food arrived at the same time as the people who had arrived 15mins after we had!! The fish was good as where the chips but the overall service and cleanliness was very poor, The toilet had no lock so you have to hold the door closed at the same time , no soap in the dispenser and a Laundry wash tub...

I don't know who's giving this place low ratings?! But I also don't know if the ownership/management has changed fairly recently... When I visited, I had great service, great coffee & incredibles pies! The steak & cheese pie actually had meat in it! I'm not talking 2 or 3 small chunks of overly grisly & fatty beef swimming in an ocean of gravy like most places, I'm talking about tender, perfectly lean (not too lean) meat filling most of the pie & the gravy filled the gaps between meat & pastry. Definitely visiting every time I'm near Ngatea. I will also take a 2 hour round trip from where I live on a rare occasion! Kapai The Glory Company! P. S. Im salivating now after...

Since new owners have taken over it's a rip off for what they do! Went in for a coffee refill and charged 7.90 dollar and they didn't even fill it, I'll never go back and advise others to do the same No lie triple shot large mocha in a refill cup 7.90 and no you don't know who i am I've only been in once since you took over And i asked to fill to the top but you refused saying that's all i was getting as that's how you do your cups! The last owners had no problems your an absolute disgrace to the town

The food was unbelievably delicious! Was not expecting it to taste this good, since I usually keep my expectations low for breakfast food so I won’t be disappointed, but good gosh! They know how to feed ya! Hearty portion, lovely people, nice and quite atmosphere. Was a little cold but the well made coffee warmed us up! Was definitely a good decision to stop here and support local! Kia ora!
