The Copper Kettle is gone ..... I guess things change.. it not only has a new name, but it now has a very contemporary look .... I like the concept and the fit out - it’s very urban chic .... I am disappointed about the other changes though ... no more self service to a huge variety of sandwiches and pies ... they do it for you ... which, in itself is not bad .... but the Cheese and Onion Sandwiches - something this place was famous for ... was so disappointing ... did they toss a block of cheese and a couple of onions in a blender and blitz it until it was a paste to smear on the sandwiches? ... the sandwich was very disappointing ... the coffee was bitter .... and there was no raw sugar option - only white sugar and equal - now, normally, I wouldn’t expect raw sugar at cafe in Ngatea ... but with the new urban chic look - it’s an expectation .... I really hope the owner of this place reads all the reviews and focus’s on the negative feedback to improve their business ..... lets see if its better the next...

Read moreI don't know who's giving this place low ratings?! But I also don't know if the ownership/management has changed fairly recently... When I visited, I had great service, great coffee & incredibles pies! The steak & cheese pie actually had meat in it! I'm not talking 2 or 3 small chunks of overly grisly & fatty beef swimming in an ocean of gravy like most places, I'm talking about tender, perfectly lean (not too lean) meat filling most of the pie & the gravy filled the gaps between meat & pastry. Definitely visiting every time I'm near Ngatea. I will also take a 2 hour round trip from where I live on a rare occasion! Kapai The Glory Company! P. S. Im salivating now after...
