Wanganui East Bakery And Coffee — Restaurant in North Island

This bakery has very quickly become a favorite! We live on the other side of the river but I'd always sneak there in the mornings after dropping my partner off at work. My top 3 pies are definitely the Steak and Potato Top, Butter Chicken and Mince and Cheese 💯 the Sausage Rolls are yummo too, not too much onions or pastry. I personally am not a Coffee person although my mum is but bare in mind, she has no sugar and prefers it strong. She highly recommended their Mochaccino's 🫰 I love the ladies who work in there 🫶 they're all so nice and kind which is hard to pull off first thing in the mornings sometimes. They set my mood to Peaceful mode which is a hard thing to do when I have to get up a little earlier than normal to drive to the other side of town. Oooohhh I must not forget to mention their classic Cream and Jam Donut 🤤 the donut bread itself was so super light and soft. It kind of gave me fried bread vibes 😋 It was so fresh I could ever so slightly taste the cooking oil like they only had enough time to cool down before they were creamed and put on display, they were proper fresh 💯 and OMG the cream.....I could've died peacefully right then and there. I wouldn't recommend it if you dont like sweetened whipped cream, they definitely put sugar...

We visit Wanganui East Bakery & Coffee every time we’re in Wanganui, New Zealand, visiting from Australia, and it’s always a highlight of our trip! Their mince and cheese pies are hands down the best I’ve ever had—flaky pastry, rich filling, and just the right amount of seasoning.

I’ve been dying to try the chicken and mushroom pie, but it’s always sold out, which just goes to show how popular it is! I guess that’s just another reason to come back.
