When I drove in to this hidden gem away from the road, one of the owners Maryann met me and offered to help with my luggage. It is a most enchanted place to stay. The house itself has chandeliers and lovely Rimu woodwork throughout the 10 foot stud rooms. Maryann was so helpful and not intrusive in any way. A lovely warm and welcoming person. ||The main part of the house is curtained off so that you are completely private to the rest of the house. Beautiful decor! Warm and inviting! Superb! ||||The place only caters for a couple or 1 person because there is only one bedroom but, it is well worth it to have a cosy large lounge/dining room to yourself, plus a bathroom with a shower and a bath. They have different soaps to cater for everyone and face wipes. Lovely white fluffy towels and bath mat. ||The bed is like sinking into bliss, it was so comfortable. Electric blanket is available in the winter time and heating. ||||And Breakfast - Wow! You have the option of a full breakfast or a continental one. The night before, you specify the items you would like on the sheet provided, and the time you would like breakfast brought in to your lounge/dining room. I went for the full breakfast and it was yummy. Maryann brought it all into my lounge on a trolley with everything cooked to perfection. 10/10 ||||There is a door from your own lounge that opens up to the garden outside with assorted chairs and a little table to sit at, so you donât need to go through the main house to get to it.||And, it was very quiet with no traffic noise which was a big bonus. ||Kowhai Park is just a short walk down the road on to Anzac Parade. ||I was only there for one night to go to an exhibition, but wished I had stayed more. If only I had known what a...

I want and need to give my thanks too my amazing Hosts from Gumnut House. Beautifully kept accommodation and gardens, close to all Whanganui amenities. Greeted on arrival, plenty of secure parking space off road. Woke to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and breakfast waiting on my table Maryann had prepared. First Air BnB in over 5 years that actually provided the breakfast. Thank you for reminding me of why I prefer the home away from home with Air BnB instead of the over priced/over rated motels, I will definitely be back Maryann and Barry. True amazing Kiwi...
