Well I'm not eating the food here, being celiac and low-carb, but my 4-year-old is obliterating this cupful of chips with aioli and saying "thankyou for buying me chips" so that's awesome. So I'm sure he would give this place 5 stars, hence the rating. Oh and my coffee was good and hot, which is a big plus, given that many establishments serve lukewarm beverages these days.

The McGregors Mutton Pie remains legendary in quality. I've been stopping by here on and off for many years as this pie is a must-have on any trips through that part of the island. I dropped by again last week after a number of years and it continues to be 10/10. Have yet to find anything similar elsewhere. Coffee was also very good.

We stopped here to get morning tea and we chose a Chicken and Cranberry pie and a peppered steak pie. We have tried here before and I tried the pepper steak pie again, this time the pastry was again flaky and the steak was tender and plentiful, sadly the pepper was lacking and when you order a pepper steak pie you expect pepper. There is obviously some inconsistency issues as it wasn't as good as last time. My wife had the chicken pie and said it was ok, she could taste the cranberries....just. When asked if she would order it again she replied, probably not. Unfortunately they have changed something as I had a severe case of heartburn an hour after having the pie. Their range of pies was quite good though and the...

Stopped and we bought 2 mutton pies and a pepper steak pie. The shop was clean and tidy and didn't take long to be served even with other customers in front of us. Both the mutton pies had nice flaky pastry however the filling which was tasty was quite dry and formed a solid lump in the middle and with no gravy was too dry. The pepper steak pie on the other hand had a different pastry which was nicer and there was large chunks of beef that weren't stringy and there was ample gravy in the pie and a strong pepper flavour. The pepper steak pie was one of the best we have tasted and would buy again, however the mutton pie would not be on our...

I appreciate getting our water bottles refilled. However the 2 young employees were clearly exhausted and didn't want to be there. Some flavors of ice cream were getting low and I was refused these choices. My suggestion of using up the remaining tub by combining with another flavor was refused because it would be too much work. Why were tubs of ice cream on display if they weren't available for sale? It's also unprofessional for the staff to be negotiating leave and discussing staffing levels (with the use colorful language) in front...
