The Food Room — Restaurant in Otago

I've visited The Food Room a few times over the years and have had delicious food, which is why I recommended it to my friend this morning. We ordered cabinet food—a cheese roll, a piece of lasagna, and two iced chocolates. It took a while for our food to arrive, but we didn’t mind waiting.

However, what stood out most—unfortunately not in a good way—was an interaction with the gentleman handling the food. When he brought the lasagna to our table, he made an unnecessary comment about my hair, asking, "What happened to your hair?" I laughed it off in the moment, but it left me feeling uncomfortable and changed the entire experience for me.

Gorgeous cafe tucked away in Green Island. Its welcoming atmosphere was both a mix of elegant and homey. Friendly staff. 4x delicious gluten free sweet treat options (including cheese muffins, blueberry friand, bird seed slice). All homemade, on-site! And the long black was perfect.
