IL Capo Pasta And Pizzeria — Restaurant in Palmerston North

First time ordering Kai from il capo and ordered through deliver easy so my review is purely based on the Kai. Kai was really yummy, we ordered 2 pizzas and 3 pasta dishes which we shared out between 7, 2 adults and 5 children so small portions of each pasta but enough for a full serving for all of us. I ordered everything as is so I could see how everything was without any extras. Pizzas were yummy I love blue cheese so I ordered the cheese pizza, very well balance of cheeses without the blue over powering so the kids still enjoyed it and the other great amount of toppings and flavour was great, only critique on the pizza was the base is a little dense but still really enjoyed and filling. The pastas had great flavour and really yummy too, the fettuccine had a nice thick creamy sauce so did the tagliatelle. The lasagna was ok, the bechamel was creamy and had nice consistency, pasta cooked great but the mince and tomato lacked a little oomf. Though the Kai was great and really satisfying I did give it 4 stars based on the little things. Still really great and happy with what we had would order from...

We have been here numerous times for dinner and takeaway. The food is good however, last night our pizza had a big hair embedded in it which I pulled out and it made me feel sick.. I told the waitress, the owner came out and arrogantly said he doesn't think it was any of the girls who were workings hair. Implying it was my hair.. he didn't refund us and made us feel like we were trying to get something out if him for free. He asked us what we wanted him to do about it rather than offering a solution. There were us and one other table of customers at the restaurant.. he should have turned around and apologized and compensated us in some way. In the end he did nothing about it, just took the hair ridden piece of pizza away.. As mentioned we go here a lot and for a business that is not that busy anymore, he just lost customers who were regulars. It's a shame but we won't stand to be treated like that. I don't usually leave reviews but this really grinded my gears....

Always, always the best pizza and fresh pasta! We absolutley love it. The service is kind of 'self serve,' as orders are done at the counter, grab your own plates, cutlery and water/glasses. The staff is okay, but seems a bit indifferent--not in a mean way, just a lack of friendliness--and don't bother to check in to see if diners need anything. Since our first visit years ago I've always said the place could use some small touches to make the atmosphere more inviting: touch up walls where tables have scraped off paint, maybe tablecloths and even a little tealight candle on the tables would go a long way! But, when we're really jonesing for the real deal, we head up to Il Capo. Maybe all bring my own candle next...
