We booked a table at Cinnamon on Labour Weekend by chance because we had dropped our daughter off at Spookers for the night.
Suffice to say it was a shockingly good meal. The bbq lamb cutlets were delicious. We asked for them to be cooked to medium and they came out medium. Not slightly rare or overcooked. Medium, just like the order of heat for our Chicken Korma which was also what we ordered. The cutlets were perfectly cooked with a little char to say they had just popped out of the tandoori oven. Maybe they were cooked in a tandoori, maybe they weren’t. It didn’t really matter, the yoghurt marinade was excellent, and the cutlets went down a treat.
Service was excellent, and so were the drinks. I had an Indian Lemon Masala to start, and a Chai Masala to finish. Both very well spiced and balanced. Props to the chef or bartender who put the Lemon Masala together. As the drink progressed, it pays to drink this slowly, the hint of cumin became a taste of cumin mixed with all the other spices and lemon. Thanks to the use of cumin seeds steeping this drink became a small journey to the land of spice.
Apart from the noisy acoustics, the dining experience was elevated well above most nights out at an Indian diner. In fact there were more diners of South Asian descent there that night than European diners. That spoke volumes about the authenticity.
Dining at Cinnamon made the long drive out to Karaka...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Cinnamon, an exceptional Indian restaurant in Karaka. From the moment we stepped in, we were welcomed with warm hospitality and an inviting ambiance that set the tone for a wonderful evening.
The menu boasted an impressive variety of traditional Indian dishes, and we decided to try the Palak Paneer, Laccha paratha and crunchy cauliflower . The flavors were rich and authentic, with just the right balance of spices. The Palak Paneer was creamy and flavorful, while the Cauliflower was cooked to perfection—tender and full of depth.
What truly stood out was the impeccable service. Ankit personally checked on our table, ensuring we were satisfied with our meal. His passion for Indian cuisine and customer experience was evident in every aspect of our visit.
To finish, we indulged in Gulab Jamun, a classic Indian dessert that melted in our mouths, providing the perfect sweet ending to an incredible meal.

The ambiance was both cozy and sophisticated, perfect for a relaxing evening or a special occasion. The food was absolutely phenomenal — every dish was packed with flavour and cooked to perfection. The butter chicken and garlic naan were standout favourites, and the vegetarian options were just as rich and satisfying. You can really taste the authenticity and care in every bite. What truly impressed us was the exceptional service. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly accommodating. We mentioned — very last minute — that we were celebrating a friend’s birthday, and they quickly arranged a delicious cake without any fuss. It was such a thoughtful touch and made the night even more special. Cinnamon has won us over completely. Amazing food, top-tier service, and a team that genuinely goes the extra mile.
