A quaint Japanese family restaurant seating at most 20 in the front located a block away from the steepest street in the world in Dunedin. The food is fresh, salmon sashimi was perfect - very generous portion cut nicely for 2-4 to share. We also had eel, avocado sushi, salmon sushi and noodles - everything tasty and the roles done perfectly with rice a bit warm melting in your mouth. It was the most satisfying meal we had in Dunedin. They also serve toasted rice green tea - a perfect accompaniment. I would eat there again.

Best Japanese restaurant in Dunedin. Tasteful, great price with the massive portion for Bento box. Love the tempura, light and crispy coating, fresh prawn and veggies. You'll feel appetite with the presentation of the meals. Chicken and Prawn spicy Bento box is the best, big portion, must try. Udon noodle soup is the great option to warm up your body. Will back next time definitely to try other dish. Good services and nice homy place. Easy to get car park nearby.

Lovely little hidden gem of a restaurant. Wife and I came here for a treat meal to make a Monday at work a bit more bearable. Lovely owners and outstanding food. I had the pork katsu (reasonably priced with curry for a couple of dollars extra) and my wife opted for the spicy pork bento. The tempura batter for some items of the bento was amazingly light and had just the right amount of crunch to it. The pork katsu was just wonderful, was of a great portion size with a very proportionate amount of curry. My wife has some trouble with spicy food in that she loves it when its spicy as hell, and is often disappointed by the kiwi version of spiciness. Needless to say, there was nothing at all disappointing with this meal.

Two very happy and satisfied customers indeed, who will undoubtedly be...

I'll be back!!! Nice environment, delicious food, and the most important thing is value for money. The size is big with a reasonable price. And the sushi is also good, not too much rice like other cheap sushi. I ordered vegie udon and 1 spicy salmon roll sushi and full. The prawn tempura and eel are also beautiful. No complaint at all. Update: I would like to recommend all of the Bento Box. They are good, balanced, big size, and valuable for money. I would like to suggest you ring and order in advance 15 minutes before you arrive and the food will be ready. I'm never...

Edit: we have been eating there every couple weeks and we really love it. It’s really my favorite japanese place in Dunedin! If you have not gone yet you have to!!

Great food, great katsu chicken (big portion too) and sushi. The fresh rice melts in your mouth it’s amazing! The salmon is always fresh and great. I tried the spring rolls yesterday and they were really good.

Thank you for the great food.

Perhaps it would be great to have more eco friendly packaging for take out, to reduce single use plastic usage, would be amazing. Like paper based...
