Beam Me Up Bagels - NEV — Restaurant in South Island

I am very disappointed with the service I received today. I ordered online, it gave me a message saying that my order would be ready for pickup when the status changed to complete. The status never changed to complete, even hours after. I stood right outside the order window, that’s had a sign saying collect orders here, for over half an hour. When I went up to talk to staff, they told me I should have come up and asked for my order because it was sitting underneath the counter. I don’t understand how I was meant to know to do this as the online ordering told me it would change status when done. During my wait outside I saw more than 3 staff wipe their noses with their ungloved hands and then immediately touch the food being prepared. One guy even sucked some sauce off his finger and then touched every piece of chicken he put in a salad being made? Very odd, felt really uncomfortable and belittled by staff when collecting my food. I have added a screenshot of the order confirmation over an hour after that shows the status never changed. If you are going to have online ordering you need to have a better system and better instruction or don’t do it at all. My my my, this place do know how to do their bagels. For someone who doesn't enjoy eating bread, these were absolutely fantastic. My first beam me up bagel ever was the Vulcan-and wow, the price, the quality, the taste, everything was worth. The original menu is awesome and their menu overall is extensive and very cool to choose rom. I also love that you can choose your base bagel flavor. I got the cheese and jalapeño which was delish, every other bite had a bit of cheese infused with jalapeño spice and it was tasty! The smoked salmon was heavenly and just done so well. 5/5 Halloumi heads is another that I tried when I was craving halloumi, definitely doesn't compare to the amazing flavor of salmon-which you cannot go wrong with-but still tasty, the chili jam a very sweet tangy jelly mushed with the halloumi and lettuce. If you love halloumi, you'll love this. I didn't really love the halloumi, I thought it to be a little bland but maybe I'm just not good with my judgement of cheeses yet. Really want to make a visit to dunedin again for these yummy things - unlike some bagel outlets that over cram their bagels with too-generous fillings that become very overwhelming, losing the original taste and aroma of the bagel itself, Beam Me Up makes a more than decent bagel that can be consumed nearly and on the go too. I would eat this everyday! Not greasy at all with great contents and fresh ingredients. The girls are so friendly and make a good coffee too!
