High Tide Cafe — Restaurant in Taranaki

Absolutely terrible service! I came here after a long walk with my family and bought lunch for all four of us. I asked for a cup of water to which the lady responded “we don’t offer water, we are a take away place” even though we were eating in. I’ve never not been able to have WATER when paying for food. Then as we are eating our meal I noticed they took out a bowl (a stainless steel bowl that they likely use for cooking) to provide water for the pet dogs outside. How disrespectful! They can’t even offer water to paying customers yet they will for dogs. I over heard her saying it had been a slow day, no wonder why! I won’t be coming...

I popped in a few days ago to have a bite to eat and a coffee. When I presented by vaccine passport before being asked the lady (no mask) serving was fill of disdain and said "we mainly do takeaway so you don't need to show me that" rudely. I said I was going to eat inside as there was three indoor tables, one with customers eating and drinking. Clearly this place is run by tin foil hat anti-vac people....

Warm coffee, no coffee stirrers available, no sugar on outside tables but the high winds may have been a hindrance. Savory muffin on a plate with some lettuce ($12.00!) but no dressing. A few missing details may have made all the difference. Think they were working hard, perhaps too busy? No hard feelings but a little disappointed as we'd driven from New Plymouth...
