Ralaro's — Restaurant in Te Hiku Community

Needed a place to get breakfast before the beach. Figured there had to be a place up here, and really glad we saw the sign for Rolaro.

The seafood chowder is exceptional. It's up there with what I'd get at Soul Bar in Auckland (who are a 5 star restaurant known for it's chowder). It came with fry bread which, on its own doesn't have much taste. But used to dip, it makes the exceptional chowder even better.

After much food envy (I didn't order the chowder, glad my partner did) I went in to my chicken sandwich. The bread was perfect, soft yet strong enough to maintain the structure. I'm guessing it's made by the owners, as it's certainly not something I've seen for sale elsewhere.

Fantastic food, service, and great coffee. This place needs to be on the map for anyone...
