My partner and I ordered flat whites this morning and our experience was average. Our drinks took about 15 minutes (we were given a warning that it would take a little longer) and they weren’t especially creamy. They just tasted like hot milk with espresso - not bad, but not great. They cost $5.50 each for a large. 103 The Store is a cute space. Their cafe is combined with their decor store, which creates a sweet, small town vibe. I didn’t appreciate that the prices for the cabinet items were nowhere to be found. I saw an earlier review response from the owner that said the prices were listed on their blackboard, but that’s not true. The items looked tasty, but price impacts how people often order. It feels dodgy to not have the prices listed.

The best date scone I ever had in Nz. But I couldn't finish it, why? Not because it was too big, but because it was taken away from me. Just a moment of inattention to go to the restroom, and the waitress didn't bother to politely ask if she could clear the plates. As a result, my companion didn't notice and didn't ask her to stop. The same thing happened with the water glass. I'm dismayed, I saved 1/4 of my scone on purpose to enjoy it later. I'll hold onto this betrayal in my heart for a long time. Maybe even until tomorrow. Despite this treachery, the hot chocolate was really delicious, and the other dishes as well.

This place is usually really good but today orders were mistaken (twice), and the customer service dismissive (three times). I appreciate people need to make money but being charged almost $70 for one coffee, and 2 x bacon and eggs (with one piece of toast!) is a bit steep. Will give this place a miss for a while and hope they improve a bit.

Well not such a good experience. I asked for eggs on toast with a side of bacon but was told by the counter chap that eggs Bennie was what was on the menu, so it was that or choose something else. I said well hold the hollandaise because I just wanted a simple meal. He charged us the full price at $22 I think it was. I thought it was somewhat overpriced but didn't want to argue as there were others waiting to order and I was tired. On reflection I think the counter service was poor and offhand. The last full eggs Bennie with bacon I had in Dunedin was fabulous and charged at $15. Eggs on toast with bacon was $12. Last thing, who on earth serves eggs on toast in a flat bottomed bowl , I struggled to get a knife and fork into it. Ho hum, won't be stopping there again on my travels through. Sorry guys, not a...

Roxburgh doesn’t have a lot of breakfast or brunch options but we really liked this place. They were posting a new menu the day we walked in. It looked great but unfortunately wasn’t yet available. Still the existing blackboard options were very good. My wife rated the smashed avocado the best she has ever eaten. The hot cakes were okay without being great. There was an excellent range of cabinet foods, baked goods etc. Service was excellent (strawberry blonde headed lady, can’t remember the name, sorry). The whole cafe is attached to a store selling gifts and accessories. My daughter brought a scarf and hat which she hasn’t taken off for five days...
