Well overall the breakfast visit today 01 February 2025 to balloon marketed Pōkeno bacon at mercer was utterly disappointed. My senior citizen mate wants to have a breakfast because he was in old impression the best breakfast place, so I picked him up from his place in Auckland and travelled 57 kilometres to catch the cafe opening at 7am but cafe was closed till 7:52am because staff shortage. On opening just before 8am, we are the first customer ordered, and asked what is the fasted option of breakfast because we want to be back in Auckland at 9am so they told us egg bacon bread so we order one and one egg/ bread. The service was so poor that they 5 people working at 8:05 am but they forgot the first customer and served Same stuff as take away to 7 people before serving us , so I went to counter at 8:15 and found myself alien in counter crowd , on my inquiry I was handed the breakfast not served on table. To catch my volunteer work back in Auckland at 9am I eat in rush but my mate was disappointed as eggs and beacon was cold. Thanks to McDonald next door that we able to get hot coffee. I think they should look at their service being on busy road and the staff behaviour , customer are not beggars and they pay for food and...

Our first and last visit to this cafe. I ordered a Big Breakfast without butter on the toast and a short black (in a proper cup), my wife had pancakes and a coffee (one with milk, all the same to me) in a takeaway cup. The young bloke was typing the instructions into the order but none of it was read. The pancakes look like they were something thawed out before serving. You guessed it, butter on my toast. I don't like the taste of butter, margarine is much worse and this is why I don't eat it. The first attempt at coffee arrived and it was a long black in a large takeaway cup. That was returned and a short black in a small takeaway cup arrived. The coffee was okay. At least the bacon was okay, I've had better and I have had worse. 3 errors in a simple order is inexcusable, imagine if we were a party...

We called in for lunch was told there was 20 minute wait. We waited 40 minutes we went to get a refund as time was against us to be told “Oh your means are done just waiting on toast” tray was pushed across the counter for us to carry. When the toast arrived we asked if there was a spoon so we could remove tea bag. “No sorry use a stirrer server leant across the table opened stirrer packet removed stirrer and put it on the table” 😳restaurant was grubby the tray where the condiments were the paper towel they were sitting on looked like it had been there awhile. Floor was dirty food on floor. I think eatery has changed hands since we last frequented. Needless to say we will not be back. A bonus was there was plenty of bacon on our “delux”...

I enjoyed the Treat breakfast with scrambled eggs and mushrooms. The bacon was lovely and the hash brown was nice and fresh. Everything else was just warm. The portions are very small at this place, especially for the price. The Mac and cheese was about half a cup of macaroni in a burger box, which was very underwhelming. The scrambled egg and bacon sandwich was good, plenty of egg in it. The flat white was beautifully creamy and hot - very nice. Overall not a bad place, I'd have the treat breakfast again, but I wish they'd consider changing the serving sizes.l as it's not good value for money.

Best bacon butties in New Zealand. I prefer salad with mine, which is optional in the price. There are three rashers in the sandwich. Worthwhile stopping to get one. The is a good selection of dishes on the menu. They also sell bacon and sausages in the shop. Or go through to Pokeno to the butcher shop for a greater range of products. Also if you buy a certain amount of bacon you can get a discount. I've seen a number of times now that Pokeno bacon is one of the best in the country, if not the best.

This place is THE place to stop on the way to or from when passing, and you are hungry. Meals are super value not because of the generous portions, but because of the very yummy bacon. Full of flavour, cooked to perfection and served by a group of wonderful friendly local woman. Of course if you are passing and you are not hungry then purchase some bacon from their fridge to take with you!
