It’s a lovely spot, and used to be great, but today’s service left a lot to be desired. I tried to order a fluffy for my 3-year-old, to be told abruptly that they ā€œdon’t do fluffies, just kids hot chocolatesā€. I’ve never heard of that in my life; even overseas where fluffies aren’t really a thing, we’ve managed to get a little cup of warm frothy milk for our child. We were then told the coffee would be a 15 minute wait, which is absolutely fine, we could see they were busy. While we waited, we had someone else’s takeaway coffee plonked down on our table without a word. Luckily the person who was waiting for it spotted it and realised it was theirs. Our coffees finally arrived after about 30 minutes, and then we had to wait another 15 mins before our friends’ coffees arrived with only one table of 3 ordering between us and them. And to top it off, the coffees were burnt. Which was incredibly disappointing as they use Rocket beans, who are one of the best roasters in the Waikato in my opinion. As an ex-barista myself, I don’t normally complain as I understand that it can be hard to get everything perfect when it’s busy, but we just left feeling incredibly disappointed about the whole experience really, which is a shame because it’s such a lovely cafe with great potential. Just need to work on their barista skills and...

We stopped off at this cafe during a bike ride on the Waikato River trail. Coffee and food was good and it was pleasant surroundings sitting outside. We ordered coffee and food which was brought out in a respectable amount of time. On finishing my coffee I went and ordered a slice that was sitting in the food cabinet. They took my money and said it would be brought out to me. Went back to the table, waited, waited, waited. There was some urgency for us to get going, so I went back up to the counter, to tell them we had to get going, expecting them to simply apologise get this slice out of the cabinet, put it on a plate and give it to me. I could see a younger girl getting it out of the cabinet (at snails pace). I waited there at the counter for it and an older woman said "We will bring it out to you". I replied "Its just that we are in a hurry and need to be on our way". She replied in a very rude tone "Everyone's in a hurry" - like I shouldn't dare ask for the process of getting a slice out of a cabinet to be sped up a little. It was brought to us outside a few minutes later but the rudeness of this woman ruined the experience of the...

they had a cheese and tomatoes long bread roll in the food display cabinet, so being a hungry truck driver early in the morning I asked for that. "it's a toasted item the lady said behind the counter" I said I rather have it untoasted but she refused to sell it like that ( as it was displayed and repeated it's a toasted item.. ok I got confused probably due to hunger, and after trying to negotiate untoasted displayed item for $6.00 Then what seemed the proprietor I was full on in a heated debate which ended by him telling me to F... off .. dismayed and still hungry I was forced to leave knowing a contract is a two way deal.

And nice of them to let me go to work hungry .. I'm over it now, but it's not what I think is appropriate negotiations with a paying client .. Was it because I have a long beard and look like Santa in his summer job or that I was a truck driver not dressed in perfect attire for their liking maybe. I don't know and am still confused. I just think they could have sold me the item as is displayed and be done with it and even save their electricity bill to make...

What a wonderful cafe to come across on your travels when you're heading through Arapuni. Beautifully decorated, much nostalgia, decor dates back to late 50's - 70's, warm, calm, relaxed, cafƩ. The food is exceptional. From what I could notice of the ladies that work behind the scenes are hardworking and very welcoming. Pride and love will definitely go into their cooked goods. Hot menu available, cakes, slices , pies, muffins, etc. A lot of good stuff. Hot and cold beverages. Got to stop there. I insist!

I really enjoyed the atmosphere at this cafe. A fun bit of friendly banter with staff put a smile on my face. Vegetarian burger with the in-house made freshly vegetarian patter was so delicious . And off the board unsweetened hot chocolate top it all off. Great stop before doing Waitoki River trails and at the end of the day too. And must see really close by is Arapuni Suspension Bridge a grat walk across .

What a great place 😁, food was delicious šŸ˜‹, atmosphere is retro and local to Arapuni. Staff were efficient and friendly. I bet it's really cozy when it's cold enough for the fire to be lit. There was an old radiogram that reminded me of my Nanas, and a China cabinet too. Brought back happy memories. Definitely stop and eat here if you travel or stay in Arapuni. We need to support these village Cafes.
