On the most recent occasion that I have eaten in the Te Kauwhata there was a significant improvement upon the previous. However one area still requires attention. Wine knowledge of the waiting staff is inadequate! I think it will always be a problem : The lack of adequately trained staff would be especially acute in a small town. It comes as no surprise that wine knowledge is put to the rear in a situation where food and beer account for 90 pc of the turnover. For this reason I recommend attention and tolerance for the waiting staff. If you notice a fault, as we did: make it a learning experience for the staff. Read moreWe went for dinner in the Bistro, the barstaff and waitress we're lovely, but they were very busy with all of the tables full. After a 40 minute wait, my food wasn't served hot and had been sitting under a warmer for a while. It wouldve been a lovely meal otherwise. To their credit, after mentioning this to the staff they didn't hesitate to put it on the house (meaning I didn't have to pay).. I posted about their in house fish and chips last year, saying how great that was, but this.....tonight was just a whole dissapointment. Fish was so bland, batter was tough and a bit doughy.
