Silverstream Bakery — Restaurant in Wellington

The food is good here. pies are quality, cakes are good. However....today I was left standing at the counter while staff bustled around me. Finally a young male staff member saw me and rang a bell to get help as he was obviously busy with an order. Finally a woman came out from the back barely acknowledge me..I asked what bacon and egg pies they had left, as they have different types. She didnt say a thing and started getting me a bacon and egg pie whilst talking to the young guy about stacking some product. Don't get me wrong I don't expect 5 star service, but I drove past 2 other bakeries to go to this one. I had a time pressure so went here as in the past they are quick and easy. But today the service slipped. I understand busy but you need to always keep your eyes up and be attentive to your counter and customers. After all I can just go to one of the other bakeries I pass...hope this helps...keep making nice...

WARNING worst bakery in Upper Hutt🤮 I visited this bakery today to get some food to go, and I was disgusted in what I received when I got home. Ham & Tomato sandwich: The bread felt like it was a week old it had one tiny little slice of tomato & ham in the center, it was basically a bread only sandwich pathetic. Mince & Cheese Pie: The pastry was just bad plain tasting barely any flake the filling was dry and almost nonexistent and very small in size, for $4.90 I expected one of the best pies I've ever had, but I could go to the dairy pay $2.50 for a better tasting more filling Big Ben packet pie that's been in the warmer most of the day. Also went to purchase a half dozen hot crossed buns until they told me the price of $12.00!! They must contain gold flakes or something for that price, everything's a complete rip off and...

Havent been in for a while but quality of their pies has dropped big time recently! Gourmet pies were over cooked (bordering on burnt), dry and no where near as tasty as they used to be. And not as clean as it used to be with food dried into the table and the salt & pepper shakers were disgusting. Its a shame that the menu have been done away with also as we used to order off this. Not sure if it is hugely slipped standards, or if they've got rid of bakers/cooks, if it there has been a change in ownership/management, or a bad day? But the bakery seems a lot quieter than it used to be so I guess others have decided, like we now have, to probably not return.
