The Broadway Tearooms & Bakery is a charming and historic café located at 31 Broadway, Reefton, serving locals and visitors since around 1874. This heritage establishment offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a casual coffee break while exploring the town.
The menu features a full range of hot and cold meals, including hearty breakfasts, gourmet pies, fresh bread and buns baked daily. They also cater well to dietary needs, offering vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The coffee is barista quality, which is a highlight for us. We also ordered the fish & chips with salad (which I found a bit oily), cheesy broccoli soup (yummy) and mushroom on egg bene (the hash brown was a pleasant surprise).
The café is housed in a beautifully restored wooden building dating back to 1875, blending historic charm with modern comforts. Seating includes both indoor space for about 50 guests and outdoor tables in a sunny courtyard, making it a comfortable spot year-round. . Staff are friendly and efficient, contributing to a welcoming experience. The Broadway Tearooms & Bakery is a popular stop for travelers passing through Reefton as well as a beloved local institution.

Read moreWe were driving pass this tiny town and there was this flurry of activity outside this little bakery.
And having set off early, without our brekky, this sounds like a good stopover to fill up our tummy.
I've ordered The Works to see if its really the real deal, and my wife ordered eggs benedict, and to flush it down with a nice pot of tea.
Lo and behold!!!!!, in our 2 weeks in NZ, we never had such high quality and such nice tasting breakfast, thank for the lovely dishes you guys have made and coupled with the ambience, it make me miss your food from here in Singapore as I am typing this; the hash brown is nicely fried without the oiliness associated with it, the sausage was spot on and very tasty, not salty and tough, the bread that comes with it was nicely toasted and not overly dry, and still retains that crusty texture.
If there is a way to give 10 stars, you bet it will be given.
Keep up the good quality and freshness, you have elevated the food status of NZ food to another level with excellent price to boot, and the portion size is spot on.
If we are coming back to NZ, we will definitely visit you guys again to reminisce the delicious food you...
Read moreWhile in Reefton on New Zealands West Coast, we stopped in here for a great breakfast. My wife had a delicious plate of Eggs Benedict, while I had a plate of Portobello mushrooms on home made rosti. The meal was delicious and the quantities were generous. The mochachino I ordered was perfectly made. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the service was prompt. We returned the next day which was Easter Sunday, and were disappointed because we could not order from the menu and were confined to the pre prepared food in the cabinets. The lovely young lady who served us was even unable to heat my piece of pie in the microwave, because of the ridiculous public holiday regulations in our country. Surely we are not offending any religious group by microwaving a single piece of pie. It cannot be the work regulations, because the young woman was already working. Not the cafe's fault, but still weird. I would go back...
