Regardless of how packed my schedule might be, there is one place in Benin City that I always make time for – 'Kateri Bamboo House,' a premium restaurant situated at No. 40 Boundary Rd, GRA, Benin City.
Despite the absence of prominent signage, this fine establishment has the power to make you forget your troubles. Fortunately, Cassandra and Anastasia, the helpful waitresses I had met during a previous visit, were on duty. While I did notice a slight increase in their rates, I easily forgave them, considering the BAT times we find ourselves in.
The restaurant’s inviting ambiance, delectable meals, courteous staff, and soothing music create an experience that beckons you to return, and return I did for lunch the next day after my assignment.
For those who might find themselves in Benin and seek an exquisite culinary experience, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Kateri Bamboo House, where I am confident that Cassandra and her colleague, Anastasia, will provide you with exceptional service. Although a little bit pricey, every kobo spent at Kateri Bamboo House...
Read moreEven with the lack of signage at this spot, this place is actually very accessible. It's relatively close to other spots to dine and eat but this one is quite unique. First of all, the sign outside made me smile instantly. It makes you feel at home as soon as you take the first step. Further, the staff is accommodating and quick. My first order was a starter meal which ranges from NGN4,000 and above as stated on the menu. Then, I had chapman and chicken and chips which isn't even on the main dish menu but costs quite a lot. Beware that the food is expensive but you'll be getting value for your money so no wahala at all. The cook time is bearable and the ambience makes it very enjoyable to sit tight and wait for your order. Generally, I enjoyed being here and I look forward to being here once again and again. Hope you find this helpful and try it...

The ambiance was intimate, homely, and warm. It felt like I was in a family setting. While the menu isn't very extensive, there is a moderate range of meals to select from.( I'd suggest the chicken in black bean sauce with singapore noodles any day, anytime.) The customer service was okay, not necessarily top notch. The meal sizes are worth it; the prices are more or less adequate; however, their drinks seemed overpriced to me. Overall, I'd give it a $$ rating for price. It took about 40 minutes to get our soup, and a little over an hour to get our main dishes. There's lovely calming background music that completes the whole experience. I'd definitely be...
