Timing and responsiveness were so below par, it was really shocking especially since it wasn’t a busy time of the day
Waitstaff were a mixed bunch; from the bartender who was full of energy to a pair of waitresses who seemed to have been trained to be opposites of each other, sorta like a ‘good cop, bad cop’ routine. One was extremely defensive and got orders wrong, arguing when she got orders wrong and almost stopping diners in our party mid-speech, while the other was almost nonexistent in the whole transaction
I got there before my party and placed a fried yam and chicken wings order. I was assured it would take about 20 minutes. 40 minutes later, there was radio silence. A supervisor whom I complained to made enquiries and informed me that the chef (what a loose use of the term) hadn’t arrived as at the time I placed the order. The dish still took another 40 minutes to make its grand entrance. The same happened with the fish we ordered for the group of about 20. We placed the order easily about 2 hours before it eventually came.
Drinks were also and issue with orders being mixed up and the waitress trying to convince one of us who ordered a gin and tonic that a tequila was a gin and tonic
In all it was a very slow service with less than stellar waitstaff behavior
The wings and fried yam were very well done and tasty. And the pepper sauce that came with the fish was very fiery and tasty too. For how long the fish took, it wasn’t very tasty as the spices and herbs seemed to only have penetrated one side of the croaker fish especially.
I hear it’s a good place for fish so I’ll try it again someday soon and update for you to see if there has been...
Read moreBlake Resort in Abuja formerly known as 'Blakes' is a popular live entertainment spot. Infact, Blakes is an undeniable pioneer in the live entertainment scene in Abuja. It's appearance more than 20 years ago in the city center electrified the entertainment scenario. Located along Ahmadu Bello Way, the outfit later shut down following some reversals, but later bounced back better, more modern & sophisticated. At the initial stage, there was only the live music hall. However, with the renaissance came the modern restaurant/lounge. This area, predominantly constructed with brown wood uplifted the ambience of the place with is exceptional modern concept. It's always a beautiful place to wine & dine while listening to good music. The live music auditorium also underwent some metamorphosis. Renovated & upgraded with shining & bristling disco & neon lights, it looks like a background/setting for a star wars theme. Blake Resort is renowned for its grilled fish & array of usual & exotic drinks. Add this to the extensive menu of local, continental & international cuisine. The meals are prepared alarcarte, so diners must be patient, or very patient as the turnaround time could be annoying at times. Blake Resort is a vibrant go-to place for fun lovers seeking good music, food & wine. With it's electrifying atmosphere, live bands, and diverse cuisine, it is better attended as a group with friends & family. Though dining here doesn't come cheap. So I've to emphasise...
Read moreWhat’s there not to love about Blake’s Resort? Firstly, the location is super easy to find (can’t miss it). The ambience is highly commendable. You could wine and dine in the open space with the retractable roof which is really cool to be honest. Or you could choose the tiered indoor space where you could sit from up top and get a vantage point of view of the stage where of course, they host different kinds of performances to keep you entertained or you could sit downstairs and get the first person view of the entertainment. Overall it’s a very cozy environment to wind down. The food was great in my opinion. The Samosas were fresh and crispy. It came with a sauce dip that was tasty and spicy. The jollof rice was well cooked and properly seasoned like Authe 9ja jollof. The beef was very tasty as well. The catfish and fries was a thing of beauty for two main reasons; 1. It was prepared properly and 2. It’s extreme Value for your money. It took two adult men to finish the medium Size. The Shawarma is actually one of the best you can have in Abuja. The size was just screaming “value for your money.” The beef and chicken chunks, the topped with cheese were mouth filling in each bite. The prices of things were very okay. Considering the service you get, which is quite fast and the waiters and well manared, really screams “value for your money!” The environment is well guarded and most times there and police vans stationed there.
Overall I’d rate...
