We visited Micheal Garden restaurant sited at the heart of portharcourt pleasure park. The restaurant had an indoor setting and an outdoor sit-out. Being Sunday, there was also a very interesting live band with amazing singers filling our ears with some old-school jams.
. The ambiance of the place is particularly unique because not only does it give you the park view but it also allows you to choose a more serene part of the restaurant at the corner of the building if you aren’t the type to want noise or the live band area if you want a bubbly lively night.
We had our meal at the live band area and then had our dessert in the quiet area so we could hear ourselves talk. Afterward we took a walk in the park for a more wholesome evening.
. My meal was the African pork chops in pineapple sauce, veggies, and mashed potatoes paired with a bottle of rosé. Before my meal arrived I was served some complimentary starters and my wine was served in an ice bucket with a ready waiter that Kept topping up my wine as it was going down. After my meal, I was given a warm wet towel to wipe my hands and the waiter was very swift to respond to my every beck and call and they were polite too.
Meal prep time was great too as my meal arrived on time despite the crowd at the restaurant on a weekend evening.
Asides from the amazing service the meal was very delicious too! It was well cooked, the sauce was on point, and the mashed potatoes were well whipped and creamy. The pineapples brought so much creativity and extra deliciousness to the meal. I didn’t know what to expect from the pineapple but I loved every bit of it in the sauce. The ice cream I had for dessert was also really good.
I was so impressed with the meal that I sent compliments to the chef and even ordered chicken baloise and buffalo wings as takeout. They were equally as nice.
So far this is the restaurant I’ve had one of the best meals in port Harcourt.
The price point is also pretty fair for such quality...
Read moreMichael Garden holds its place as one of the most prestigious restaurants in Port Harcourt. I visited with 3 friends to see why.
This place is located within the picturesque Pleasure Park; accessible by foot (only) from within the park. This lends the restaurant a view and serenity - from the exterior seating area - which other restaurant can only dream of.
For location and security; this restaurant scores a perfect 10.
Parking is easy and ample (albeit may be limited during full capacity) and there is wheelchair access. 👍🏾
I found the interior to be spacious but very underwhelming aesthetically. Basic ceiling like a dated office cafeteria. The ambience left a lot to be desired.
The exterior area is spacious with a nice view, as stated heretofore.
Plaudits given for:
• Prompt meal preparation • Conspicuous and secure location • Clean and ample convenience • Lovely milkshake and violet cocktail • Spicy Prawn Noodles dish was good • Attentive waitress (designated “Captain”)
Service issues experienced:
• Tardy service, despite a surfeit of staff. The security guard took all of 7 minutes to open the gate and it took well over 20 minutes to get our bill.
• Very tacky menu which lacks meal descriptions.
• The TVs were off (the explanation was that their DSTV decoder was sent out for repairs two days ago).
• We were perturbed by houseflies, including very large ones.
• Inconsistency with the two Spicy Prawn Noodles ordered, poor value for the grilled Catfish.
• Generic ‘THANK YOU’ nylon bags - same used by street kiosks and hawkers - used to pack takeout meals.
• Value vs Price is low. Lunch for 4 guests cost N62,000 and we didn’t feel like it was money well spent.
Summarily, it wasn’t worth the hype but is recommended for single to large group dining, good views and good...

The ambience was good, decent parking spot. It was a Sunday afternoon so the restaurant was packed.
For starters, we had chicken nuggets & samosa with their special smoothie.
I had a T-bone steak with mashed potatoes. So far, this is the only steak I have had in PH that has come close to the ones I have had abroad and delivered perfection in my mouth. It was juicy, well cooked and soooo tasty!!!
My partner had Egusi & Plantain flour and the portion of the soup is quite sizeable that it’s ok to judge anyone that finishes their soup at a seating . They give you your moneys worth with the portion of food served and I absolutely love that.
The price was not outrageous for the quality of food and service that was delivered. Their waiters are also well trained and attentive. Our waiter suggested the T-bone steak and I loved her recommendation. I think it’s great when waiters actually know & understand their menu.
Overall, I strongly recommend this spot and I would definitely...
