This is my opinion. I certainly won't be going back there.
The rooms were neat and everything functioned (lights, TV)
Service was disorganised
I got to the hotel by 4pm and I couldn't check in till about 5pm, due to power outage.
I booked a room for a friend online and paid for it. The receptionist gave him a lower priced room and failed to inform me at the reception. It was after I saw the room that I realised that I didn't get what I paid for. This led to a round of argument in which the receptionist was insinuating that he was doing me a favour.
I had guests come in for a visit went to get them at the gate, only for me to see a gun wielding policeman asking the taxi that brought the guest in to leave the premises with my guest in the taxi...all efforts to find out why the police officer was sending the taxi out fell on deaf ears. The officer paid no attention to our questions. This led to another round of confrontation at the reception.
Next morning, went for breakfast and I was told my room didn't come with breakfast. After yet another round of discussion, they confirmed that I was indeed entitled to breakfast.
The overhead shower in the room was too short and a tall person will struggle to bath.
The cups and mugs were dirty. I guess they are never changed if they aren't used
There is no laundry service within the hotel, laundry service is outsourced and you can't get overnight dry cleaning. Was late for my event by 2 hrs due to this
Checking out wasn't without its drama as well. I was given a bill for laundry that was higher than what I was told initially. They came up with some excuses (nobody apologised). I had to settle the bill and leave before I lost my temper completely
Like I said that was my experience
Someone else might have had it better.....but me and my friends, we certainly won't pay them a visit again
And to others that require a good hotel.... I advise you look somewhere else. Because you have to be extremely slow to anger to survive...

Read moreI had a delightful time here!! One of the best hotels in PH I can bet. Very secure (3 levels of security checks for every car with a dog and an x ray machine for bags near the front door). In a hidden spot so there is privacy with a great view of the city. They have shuttles and a free breakfast buffet every morning with fresh fruit juice and on demand omelettes. They have a great pool and you can choose to sit outside during the day or in the evening near the pool. They have a nice bar area with plenty of drinks and a screen that shows sports. Their staff are all so helpful, professional and accommodating; from the front desk to the housekeeping staff. I was very impressed with the free wifi, air conditioning, and how quickly power was restored when it would be switched off. They also have an international card reading machine so you can use your American card with no issues!! They have tennis courts and two elevators, with a restaurant that takes orders a La carte throughout the day until the dinner buffet in the evening (you have to pay for this- usually around $11K Naira). They have American foods and tradition Nigerian foods. My room was really nice and the bathroom was so cool! It fit all my needs and blew my expectations. My only detractors are that the carpet needs to be replaced because it is worn and dirty (in the room and the hallway on the 3rd floor). I did also wish they had microwaves in the rooms or located somewhere else. I’m not sure how that would affect the power but in American hotels they usually allow you access to a microwave. Even if they put a microwave in the downstairs area it would be helpful. They have a small business on the ground floor selling African wares and clothes. Overall, if your an American or any other kind of person, I would HIGHLY recommend Hotel Novotel for a...
