Brasserie Kaien Haugesund — Restaurant in Haugesund

Disappointing. Encouraged by the opinions of amazing fish soup, we went there weeks ago. We had to get ourselves served because there was no waiters/ess for 15 minutes. The soup was very thick and creamy, lacking in flavor, even though they added saffron—Toro powder would have been better option. Please, You don't serve a rare burger from the children's menu, and besides, even McDonald's has a better taste. The other dishes were too simple with questionable sauces. The other family with us shared same opinion. The owner must have gone on vacation, as (s)he has no control over the place. If this is going to be a money-making machine for gullible tourists, the quality needs to be improved or closed down. The prices don't reflect the quality; we've eaten at better places...

Dit is het eerste restaurant waar de hond mee naar binnen mocht in 3 weken Noorwegen. We werden vriendelijk ontvangen en de hond kreeg nog eerder water dan wij. De kaart is niet te uitgebreid en daar houd ik van , de gerechten zijn dan meestal echt vers. En dat was zo! Wij kozen voor mosselen en frites. De mosselen waren erg lekker bereid met room , knoflook en rode peper. (Hij staat in mijn persoonlijke top 3 van mosselen ooit gegeten). De frites waren huisgemaakt en smaakten ook heel goed. Als dessert kozen wij huisgemaakt karamel zeezout ijs. Wederom erg lekker. De prijs was heel redelijk. Bedankt voor de aangename middag.

This is the first restaurant where the dog was allowed in 3 weeks in Norway. We were welcomed friendly and the dog got water even before we did. The menu is not too extensive and I like that, the dishes are usually really fresh. And that was the case! We chose mussels and fries. The mussels were very tasty prepared with cream, garlic and red pepper. (It is in my personal top 3 of mussels ever eaten). The fries were homemade and tasted very good too. Excellent restaurant! The burgers were great, the halibut was delicious and the mussels were superb. Also the beer was tasty and refreshing (I recommend the local Frydenlund Juicy IPA, light and very nice). The service was excellent and the waitresses were very sweet. The water views and the interior of the restaurant were very nice. Would definitely return again on another...
