Øya Spiseri — Restaurant in Porsgrunn

We went on a busy Saturday night. Our waiter was struggling to keep their head above the water, seemed somewhat short staffed on the floor. The service was OK, but nobody checked on us the whole night. Just before the main should be served we were informed they didn't have more lasagna because what they had had been given to other guests. OK... I get a calzone instead. I was sitting looking straight into the kitchen where surly chefs were banging pots in frustration and arguing with the waiters all night, once.a chef even raised his voice at one of them. I mean, what the heck?

The food was also OK. Appetizer was a selection of cheeses and cuts of meat. Best thing was the roasted walnuts. Wife had truffle pasta with quite overcooked pasta, but the flavors were right. The calzone was disappointing - the shell/base was good, but the sauce was watery and they had too much cheese in it so it turned into a lump. And the ham was plain. So, avoid the pizzas - if they can't do calzone, they can't make pizzas. The same guy who yelled at one of the waiters was the one who made the pizza, which makes sense.

Total price for everything was 800kr, the waiter gave us a slight discount without us asking, clearly having picked up that we were less than enthused. Price is barely acceptable for what we got. We won't be...

My go-to restaurant for italian pizza and antipasti in Porsgrunn/Skien.

I went her for the first time in 2019, the first week of opening. But I never came back after a bad experience.

Fast forward to 2021. Decided to give it another try.

Arrived for a late dinner. Ordered 2 starters and 2 pizzas. And wow! What a step up from my last experience. Food was amazing and I also got a new favourite pizza - Parma Secca. Delicious pizza bianca with goat cheese and honey!

We came back for this pizza after a month. Arrived in a completely full restaurant. The maître d' told us to come back in an hour - and so we did. We got seated in the lounge area with a seaside view table. Just amazing!

Tried antipasti this time around with the "Parma Secca" for main course. Everything was just perfect! Antipasti, spot on. Pizza, as good as I rememebered it. Service, excellent!

We will definetly come back! And we also got a new favourite cheese served with the antipasti platter. But oh no! I forgot to ask the name of it.. So they better have it on the platter...

Desserts turned out better than the starters.
