The reputation of a restaurant can slowly be ruined by its own staff. Unfortunately, that’s what I experienced here.
My boyfriend’s birthday was on the 7th of October, and for the first time we decided to celebrate it at home in Porsgrunn instead of traveling. I wanted to make it special and chose one of the fanciest restaurants in town — Jonas B. Gundersen.
The atmosphere was nice at first, but things went wrong when I asked the staff to bring one of the desserts as a birthday cake with a candle. The waitress said they didn’t have any candles and wasn’t very helpful in suggesting any alternative, but agreed to bring the dessert anyway.
We waited and waited — even had the camera ready to record the surprise — but after half an hour, my boyfriend, clearly disappointed, asked for the bill. We noticed that the dessert was listed there, even though we had never received it. When we pointed that out, the waitress just said, “Oops, I think I brought it to another table.”
Mistakes happen, of course, especially when the restaurant is busy — but there were only a few guests that evening, and there was no apology, no offer of compensation, and no effort to make things right.

Virket som den hadde stått på vent, for potetene var eneste varme på tallerkene. Dette var en kjempe skuffelse. På en ellers flott dandert og tilberedt rett. Bestilte så dessert ( créme brulée),som bar preg av dårlig tid. Sukkeret var ikke smeltet,men en bløt kornete guffe. Her er det masse rom for forbedring. Bestilte vin samtidig med dessert. Den kom først når vi nesten var ferdige. Hvorfor ,vet jeg ikke. Ingen kommunikasjon med servitører.Ingen spurte om maten smakte, om det skulle være noe mer eller noe sånt. At en måtte betale hver gang en bestilte,og ikke fikk en regning til slutt,var også en ny opplevelse for meg. Synes en resturant burde ta bedre vare på kundene sine,så det frister til gjentagelse. Her sitter jeg /vi igjen med et inntrykk av at dette er en halvhjertet plass. Kjempe skuffende opplevelse som tross alt kostet ett par tusen kroner. Kommer ikke til å anbefale denne resturant,etter denne opplevelsen. Da finnes det for mange andre bedre...
