We wanted to take a "grill for 2" and since ordering from QR forced one of us to pay full price for 2, we went to order at the cash desk. After having been ignored for almost 10 min, we were told one has to pay dull because they cannot split the bills. (Camon Egon, all restaurants allow you to split, you make your own rules... bad service from you here)
Anyway we got the meat, and despite the quality was fairly good, the quantity was extremely disappointing. We paid 850 nok for 3 very small pieces of meat each, very few fries and sweet potato fries (but seriously very little) and 2 onion rings each with 4 tiny sauce glass. Yes, the menu mentioned we would have got 3 pueces of meat, but portions were absolutely small. Seriously, that small even in comparison with the tempura scampi dish I ordered. Too much of a price that is not justified by the quantity, the quality or the experience.
Seriously, I never looked down on Egon and I was always glad to bring family and friends to the Tyholt tower. But if I leave a restaurant hungrier than I was on the arrival having spent over 1000NOK, that's seriously bad.
I am really sorry for leaving a bad review, I hope this helps you as feedback so that you will put food in the dishes next time, if there...
Read moreGENERAL Reservation was easy and appears to be recommendable, at least for weekends. The venue is cozy with lots of wood, comfortable lighting and music. And of course the view is arguably the best in town.
ORDERING For some completely non-understandable reason the foods had to be ordered from the bar. This meant that on a busy night (e.g. a perfectly normal Saturday) one would have to queue easily 15 to 30 minutes on a narrow corridor, constantly dodging the staff, after deciding what to eat. This was mostly caused by the register personnel also bartending while accepting orders. Furthermore, unlike in every restaurant in the history of civilization, one had to pay for the foods upon ordering.
FOOD We ordered the shareable grill plate, which arrived surprisingly quickly. The serving was plenty for two people, yet not nearly warm enough to stay warm until the end of the meal. Red meat was cooked well, but the chicken was awfully dry. It was thankfully saved by the mango sauce. Having received the apparently abnormal dish, we were granted desserts on the house by a wonderful waiter. We had chocolate fondant, which was delicious.

Read moreThis is an amazing place to bring your family, friends or lovers. The food is great although a little overpriced for the amount you get in my opinion, there is a lot of variety including meat and fish as well as drinks and desserts.
The workers are very accomodating and polite, they come and asks you if everything tastes ok which gives you the opportunity to give comments or complaints about the food without feeling like a bother to those around you.
The atmosphere is very nice, it's very family friendly and wheelchair accessible. There are usually a lot of children which may sometimes lick the windows, so I'd advise not to touch them. The view of Trondheim city is beautiful both in the daytime and nightime, it's dimly lit and there are candles which makes the atmosphere very cozy and compliments the food and environment very good. I really like that the resturant spins, in around an hour or so it will go a full circle giving you the time to fully take in the views while eating.
All in all no real complaints about the place, just that it is a tad expensive for the amount and quality of the food you recieve. I would only go here for special occasions and is...
