Awshal Restaurant, Bakery & Coffee shop — Restaurant in Muscat

Update: Their deserts are a must try. They have amazing deserts and the coconut cookies are out of the world. A must try.

Was intrigued with their vegetarian menu items and decided to give it a try. Ordered deep fried mushrooms, artichoke and spinach dip with nachos and their vegetarian sandwich. Sadly none of them seemed good enough for my flavour profile.

All items seemed pricey. I had ordered a delivery and no one mentioned not to order the spinach and artichoke dip as it was a hot cheese base and by the time I received it it was a hard unmanageable mess. The tacos were not crunchy and seemed like they took on some moisture. The deep fried mushrooms are just plain breaded mushrooms that are deep fried without any seasoning and the sandwich was not bad but I have had way better sandwich for a lot less including delivery.

The only saving grace was the quantity was small, that by the time we realised it wasn’t upto the mark the dish was done. Haven’t tried out the coffee or the desserts here. So cannot comment on them but with my experience I wouldn’t be trying them...

My first visit to Awshal restaurant which is located in Muscat Hills, in the beginning it was challenge to find parking for my car due to limited space at that area with ongoing construction. We made reservation before we arrive to avoid waiting in case it was full. Very welcoming stuff with a good attitude and appearance, sitting area is wide with beautiful decoration and design, we ordered different dishes such as appetizer salads main course and drinks, prices slightly high maybe to reflect the quality of the restaurant itself however the meals was not up to my expectation specially the taste of the Iranian kebab. Fresh bread , Borkan fries, dynamite shrimp was good besides Awshal Salad, the cabab for me wasn’t that tasty. I haven’t tried all the dishes to provide more and specific review however my grade is Based to what I experience...

I recently dined at an Iranian cuisine restaurant (Awshal) and was absolutely delighted by the experience.
