I wonder if I can live in the restaurant, and have all three meals here... everyday ?
Yes! The food is LITERALLY that good!
I should note, that I've eaten at The Restaurant both during the Ramadhan iftar setup (which is what you see in the pictures), and during their regular operation days outside of the Holy month, and I can easily say that their food is always top-notch.
The menu is continental, and they don't miss with the flavor of any dish presented to you. Sure, there are minor imperfections with some dishes (not entire cuisines), but because it's surrounded by amazing alternatives you literally move on from "heartbreak" quickly.
What I would avoid to keep your taste buds rolling with the good stuff is the sushi. I'm sorry, but I do have to call them out on this one. Their sushi feels unbelievably bland! And its made worse by the fact that they don't have Teriyaki sauce to help mask the flavor a little bit.
Everything else though... Deliciously indescribable.
The ambiance is nice, both inside and outside. You have live music performances, but nothing that overshadows the good conversations you will definitely be having with person or people you're with. Outdoors however, may not be the best option when the weather closes in on summertime. I would definitely opt for an indoor table, and make sure to call them in advance to book a table, because they are fairly busy (Especially during special occasions, or holidays).
Staff is wonderful! Almost always by your side, and ready to cater to your requests. Receptionists of the restaurant could be a little more welcoming, and friendlier, but nothing that warrants an "avoid this place" sticker.
Price!
Well, the bill ain't cheap, I can tell you that much. In hindsight though, it is located in a 5-star luxury hotel, and honestly in comparison to some other places, I would actually argue that their price, for the quality of food you're getting, is VERY justifiable, and downright reasonable.
Honestly, treat yourself a little, and enjoy some exceptionally decent food smack in the heart of Muscat. You will splurge, but my-oh-my is...
Read moreI have visited the Chedi restaurant a couple of times now and have tried both the poolside menu and the main restaurant menu. While the poolside menu focuses more on comfort food, the indoor restaurant offers a higher standard of dining with a more refined experience.
I genuinely enjoyed the food, overall atmosphere, and service in the indoor restaurant, where the quality and attention to detail are commendable. However, with the poolside menu, I felt there was occasionally a lack of communication and attention to detail.
For example, I ordered the wagyu burger, which was supposed to come with shiitake mushrooms as stated on the menu. Instead, it was served with champignons, which are a cheaper alternative and don’t provide the same unique texture or flavor. The issue wasn’t just the substitution but the fact that nobody informed me beforehand about the change. As someone who was intrigued by the combination of wagyu and shiitake, this was disappointing.
When I brought it up with an employee, they seemed confused and unable to address my concerns, and I was not referred to a supervisor. My intention wasn’t to complain but to give constructive feedback, as I work closely with the hospitality industry and value open communication.
Overall, the setting is fantastic—especially the pool area with its beautiful beach views. With improved communication and better attention to details in the food, the experience could be elevated...
Read moreConsidering the price point of the restaurant, I was quite disappointed overall. 2x orders of lamb racks were ordered medium rare and out of the 4 separate racks received only 1 was cooked to the requested temp. The 3 others were overcooked. The server did attempt to make ammends by offering a free dessert. The deconstructed seafood ravioli was heavily overseasoned and salty. Cornfed chicken breast was the only dish that was well received by one of our guests.
The servers were polite and friendly, however there was a wine spillage during initial tasting, narrowly missing one of our guests by dropping on the serviette and floor, although it was very minor it was surprising at a location that is held in high regard. Furthermore, the bottle was placed away from the table and glasses were left empty for over 15 minutes and only when I'd had enough and gone to get it did they seem to pay attention to it again, although they seemed more than happy to keep pouring and getting more (hugely overpriced) sparkling water for us!
Overall it was a disappointing experience considering their pricing and we had expected a...
