The surroundings the peace the quiet the hills are a beautiful relaxing retreat away from the city, however the staff esp front desk at the hotel are ridiculous. I stayed here one night as my niece booked me a night with her for my birthday. Firstly we were given a room on a low ground so we asked for a higher room and if possible an upgrade however no flexibility no kind gesture as you would get in most high quality hotels especially given it’s a special occasion; we had to pay extra to get a room two floors higher for better views. Anyway next.. room was lovely no doubt great furniture and interior design comfortable heaters working as it was winter nice balcony lovely views etc! Problem with half filled toiletries and not enough things had to call down several times! Next the tea coffee had two sachets of coffee and two black teas two green teas. Rang down for a few more coffee sachets and black teas. Guy came up and said we have to replace the whole set which costs something ridiculous like 500 rupees for a whole new set replenishment of tea coffee etc and as I asked for 3/4 coffee 3/4 black tea bags this would mean 500x4 lol I mean I was like are you feeling ok? This was the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard in my life and I’ve travelled the whole world and coming from the U.K. this was the most stupidest thing I have ever heard of! Even in the cheapest of 2/3 star hotels when there is a kettle in the room you can ask for as many tea coffee sugar and milk sachets that you like obviously free of charge and here the highlands resort is trying to charge for tea bags and Nescafé small coffee sachets! A real joke! Anyway aside from that facilities are good, main restaurant complex is a steep hilly walk away so you must drive there from the hotel unless you’re super fit and can hack it. Food is a bit pricey but not too bad esp when you compare to monal etc! Shisha is also available and overall nice atmosphere great views from the main resort outside although inside the main restaurant ground level they’ve ruined the view by building a stupid shopping area right in front of it! No sense of ruining natural beauty and trees in favour of stupid shops which could have been placed to one side! Aside from this overnight stay I visited a couple of times once for morning coffee and once for lunch as well great food options cooked well but yes on the slightly pricey side. Overall restaurant staff friendly and helpful. Great entertainment traditional rabab and tabla players in...
Read moreWe visited this place for a two-day getaway. The view from the top was truly spectacular, with the area surrounded by pinecone trees. We stayed in an executive room, located on the 4th and 5th floors.
Room: The room was clean, spacious, and had a balcony offering an amazing view of the Margalla Hills, a small town, and pinecone trees. The room service was efficient, and we never had to call twice for anything.
Activities: The property offers several activities for both kids and adults. There is a small play area for kids with slides, providing them a fun and safe environment to play. They have a dedicated area for archery, shooting, paintball, and a zip line, making it an exciting spot for adventure lovers.
Restaurant and Food: The food was overpriced and disappointing. We ordered makhni handi, but the chicken appeared black, which completely killed our appetite. I also tried the cheese naan, which was decent, and the soup, which was just okay. I would highly recommend bringing your own food instead. The prices just not justify the quality, quantity and taste being served.
The breakfast buffet was average, with a live omelet station. It included options like chana, aloo bhujia, nihari, parathas, boiled eggs, French toast, bread, cereals, and tea.
Issues: While checking out, the staff claimed I had consumed Pringles from the minibar, which were never present in the room. When I asked for proof, they called the person checking the room, who confirmed there were no Pringles. The receptionist lashed out at that staff member for not telling him this before but did not apologize to me.
Additionally, they accused me of not paying for an extra bed for one night. I had to show proof of payment from the card machine to convince them. For a hospitality business, they need to work on their basics, especially trusting their guests. Why would someone lie about Rs. 500 for Pringles (which they were charging Rs. 1,000 for) or Rs. 2,000 for an extra bed when already paying Rs. 22,000 for an...
Read moreThe drive to Highland Resort starts off a bit rough – once you cross Sangra Bazar and take the left turn towards the resort, the road condition is disappointing. It’s broken and bumpy all the way until you actually reach the property, which is something the management should definitely look into.
That being said, the resort itself is quite pleasant. The studio-sized rooms are exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully equipped. From the balcony, the view is refreshing with crisp mountain air that really adds to the experience. The bathrooms are well-stocked too, with essentials like toothbrushes, a comb, slippers, and even a shower cap provided, which is a nice touch.
Room service is prompt and efficient, but one downside is that waiters delivering food sometimes ask for unnecessarily high tips (even as much as Rs. 500), which doesn’t feel very professional. On the positive side, breakfast is complimentary and adds good value to the stay. However, I was surprised by the extra mattress charges – around Rs. 4,000 plus tax – which seems unreasonable and leaves a negative impression.
The rooftop of the resort is another highlight – spacious and scenic, it’s a great spot to relax and enjoy the views.
Overall: Highland Resort has a lot of potential with its clean rooms, nice views, and good service, but the management really needs to fix the access roads, address staff tipping behavior, and reconsider the steep charges for...
