2-Star Review: China Town & Jade Cafe Abdali Road, Multan
Visited recently with high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience was quite underwhelming considering food safety, quality, and management.
Food Safety: A glaring concern. Kitchen staff was seen working without gloves, masks, or net caps, the basic hygiene practices that reflect poorly on their food safety culture. Additionally, plates and glasses were slightly greasy, a strong indicator of improper dishwashing and drying. This not only raises concerns about residual oil but also the risk of dishwasher chemical residues, which is a serious food safety violation.
Food Quality: Disappointing. The Alfredo pasta lacked authenticity, overloaded with flour or cornstarch instead of the rich butter, heavy cream, and Parmesan base. The texture was grainy, and it tasted more like flour paste than a creamy sauce. Similarly, the pizza cheese quality was noticeably low, lacking the stretch, flavor, and melt of good mozzarella.
Taste: As expected, compromised ingredients led to compromised taste. Dull and unsatisfying, with no redeeming flavors.
Quantity & Menu Flexibility: Surprisingly, they only offer 13” pizzas, which are too large for singles or couples. This shows a clear lack of menu flexibility and customer-centric planning. In an age where the pizza industry thrives on customization and size variety, this approach reflects poor management and lack of competitor awareness.
Presentation: One of the few positives—food was nicely presented and visually appealing.
Cleanliness: The dining area was clean and well-maintained, meeting basic hygiene standards. However, restroom facilities were not inspected, so no comment there.
Other Concerns:
Staff Training: Lack of hygiene compliance may indicate inadequate staff training or supervision.
No Allergen Info: No visible information on allergens or dietary considerations, a red flag for safety-conscious diners.
Final Verdict: While the ambiance and presentation are praiseworthy, food safety lapses, poor ingredient quality, and outdated menu planning severely affect the overall experience. Hope the management takes these concerns seriously and...
Read moreThis is my first trip to Multan. Long time ago had had driven through the city in the middle of the night. We arrived here to try out this newly opened place. We were greeted courteously and taken to our table without having to wait. Perhaps we were lucky that we didn't have to wait. We already have had our appetisers elsewhere but in hindsight, I am wondering what if we had to wait. There was no proper waiting area to enjoy pre-meals or appetisers even though lobby was big enough to provide entertainment while you wait. Anyways, place was neat and clean. Contemporary Western style casual settings was impressive. It was rather a mix of classic and contemporary setting. Call it a home style sofas around a large coffee table. The place had a separate small smoking room for smokers. The main restaurant had no trace or smell of smoke. Staff was courteous. Easy to select menus. Food was good and delicious and served in very reasonable time. Desert was good too. Though, food was fresh and tasty, but it needed bit more attention. Large potatoe wedges needed bit more frying. The burger roll/bun was bit sweet and too soft. Wish they had more choices of roll/buns. Bit more hard roll. Overall, it was a great pleasure to be here. We enjoyed our goods well. Prices were very reasonable considering the place. I hope they keep prices the same. Music easy on ears and we could comfortably chat without screaming at all. I wish they had bit dimmed lights to make bit more romantic for couples. Tables were well set and crockery and cutlery was shinny and clean. In drinks had mineral water first and then sparkling mint lemonade. I recommend this place is worth trying out. Leaves an overall good...
