After a 40 minutes Google-assisted drive into tiny streets of Old city of Peshawar, and after taking two trips around the gorakh Nath temple, I finally reached the famous Nikka paya place...ordered paya and when asked to pay Rs. 2000, I was both shocked and intrigued. After all, a place which has been visited by Mark wiens, and reported on BBC food, would naturally not sell cheap... But I don't mind the price if the taste live up to the expectation... So I came back, set the table with all the fan fare, But...... the taste wasn't all that I expected... It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either... Mediocre to say the least ... But I would say he is doing a moderately good job in Peshawar where we don't have many such places compared to Lahore and Pindi... The serving size was good and so was the quality of meat and paya that was used... But the gravy has a peculiar taste... Like some artificial bazari masla was used... The original flavour and aroma of paya was somehow subdued... I hope the owner would take into account my humble suggestion without taking...

If you are a foreigner you might have to adopt this taste but if u r local then (taste bura nhe hy). Due to international fame the price is bit high around PKR 1200 full bowl 🥣. If u are a single person order half plate Rs. 600. After eating Paya you must go to the nearby shop for Green Tea 🍵 and have a visit to tehsil park to digest it....

Pros: Taste is top notch, seriously if you ask me, if never tasted such succulent, juicy, with balanced spices beef / cow trotters from any shop. The taste is quite different from Punjab region. Accompanied with a Naan true delicacy is unparalleled. The quantity is so much, that one bowl is more than enough for two people. Slow cooked and with minimal spices. Parcel facility is also available.
