After a 40 minutes Google-assisted drive into tiny streets of Old city of Peshawar, and after taking two trips around the gorakh Nath temple, I finally reached the famous Nikka paya place...ordered paya and when asked to pay Rs. 2000, I was both shocked and intrigued. After all, a place which has been visited by Mark wiens, and reported on BBC food, would naturally not sell cheap... But I don't mind the price if the taste live up to the expectation... So I came back, set the table with all the fan fare, But...... the taste wasn't all that I expected... It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either... Mediocre to say the least ... But I would say he is doing a moderately good job in Peshawar where we don't have many such places compared to Lahore and Pindi... The serving size was good and so was the quality of meat and paya that was used... But the gravy has a peculiar taste... Like some artificial bazari masla was used... The original flavour and aroma of paya was somehow subdued... I hope the owner would take into account my humble suggestion without taking any offence....

One of the oldest and most authentic Paya shops in Peshawar, located inside old city premises. Pros: - Taste is top notch, seriously if you ask me, if never tasted such succulent, juicy, with balanced spices beef / cow trotters from any shop. The taste is quite different from Punjab region. Accompanied with a Naan true delicacy is unparalleled. - The quantity is so much, that one bowl is more than enough for two people. - Slow cooked and with minimal spices. - Parcel facility is also available. Cons: - Prices are on the premium side. - Only available in the morning session. - seating is a bit limited and old fashioned.

Well it's different from the one we have in Lahore or Karachi. But not bad to have a different taste. Main point are They do not use any sort of synthetic oil, instead they use animal fat as oil. Same as in most of Afghani or Pathani dishes. Second point of difference is they use too much garlic which can easily be tasted.

No Doubt, it is the most authentic and oldest beef trotters/hoof stew 🍲 shop of Peshawar, located inside city wall of Peshawar. The location is mesmerizing early morning and you will feel the real Peshawar city vibes here. If we talk about the taste its a thick soup overwhelmed with garlic 🧄 and local spices. If you are a foreigner you might have to adopt this taste but if u r local then (taste bura nhe hy). Due to international fame the price is bit high around PKR 1200 full bowl 🥣. If u are a single person order half plate Rs. 600. After eating Paya you must go to the nearby shop for Green Tea 🍵 and have a visit to tehsil park to digest it....
