Restaurante Karimar — Restaurant in Veracruz

Our last night in Panama required that we have dinner outside of our all-inclusive resort. There’s only so much resort food you can eat!

Our Uber driver had suggested this place which was down the street from Dreams Playa Bonita.

The family had a generic meal of fried fish and the Macho (spicy) fish dishes. We also had the fish ceviche. Overall the meals came out hot a delicious! The fried fish was crispy and flakey. The ceviche was also very good! My wife and I could have eaten that solely for dinner. Skip the basic garlic bread.

The setting was great… we sat right on the edge of the restaurant near the beach. It was late at night and tide was out so we couldn’t really enjoy the views… ceiling fans were on HIGH to keep away bugs. I suspect during the day, the setting might offer more.

Service was good although they brought us out a clam dish we didn’t order. It was fixed promptly despite the language barrier.

Overall a welcomed change from our resort food! I would have liked to see what other options there were down the stretch of...

Upon arriving at the beach area, this is the first restaurant you will find. The parking isn't very convenient, but the establishment itself is spacious. If the tide is high, the view will be quite pleasant, as you'll be able to see the sea, Panama City, nearby islands, and the ships passing through the Panama Canal. Regarding the food, the fish was fresh, and the portion size was generally good; however, the price might not be considered very affordable. Service was surprisingly quick; it was a weekend but not a payday, so there were only a few diners. The beach is still not recommended for swimming. When the tide goes out, you'll notice trash, mud, and even an unpleasant odor. Nevertheless, you may see some people brave enough to go into the water. However, you can take a walk...

Hace muchos años fui a este restaurante, pero para aquel entonces no existían las aplicaciones. Ahora es el momento

AMBIENTE:

Para alquien que nació y creció en un ambiente de Isla y de mar, puedo decir que el ambiente es bueno, buena decoración, una vista de la entrada del Canal (a lo lejos), si, tiene el "flow de mar. Tiene muchas silla y mucho espacio, los baños súper limpios y con jabón y papel. 10/ 10.

SERVICIO:

Muy bueno, todos muy amables, tomaron los pedidos muy bien y supieron explicar todo. 10/10

COMIDA:

Entradas:

Sopa de mariscos: Muy buena y se sentía muy fresca, hasta a mi hermana le gustó, y eso que es bastante difícil. 10/10.

Patacones rellenos de Mariscos: buenos, pero creo que ese sazón de pasta de tomate en los mariscos no les va bien. 8/10.

Ceviche: muy muy muy bueno, de ovación. Con buena presentación y buena porción. 10/10.

Plato Fuerte:

Pescado entero: Buena cantidad, bien tamaño, pero el sabor estaba más en el ampanizado y estaba algo salado. 8/10.

FiIlete de corvina a lo macho: buena porción pero la salsa estaba salada. 8/10.

BEBIDAS:

Limonada de Mango: estaba muy simple y algo aguada 6/10.

Frozen de Maracuya: muy bueno 10/10.

NOTA:

El restaurante tiene sus altas y bajas, es decir, hay cosas que mejorar y otras que me parecieron muy buenas, lo que si creo que es muy importante mencionar y que no tiene nada que ver con la comida o servicio, es el tema de las moscas y las "chitras". Son muchas moscas las que llegan atraídas por la comida, al grado de tener que sacar una toalla y espantarlas mientras los demás comían. Además, las chitras (comunes en el área y esto es entendible) te dan con todo. Recomiendo no ir ni en chancletas ni en pantalón corto. Se debe ir bien cubierto. Los chicos muy amablemente proporcionan repelente, pero igual es un punto a considerar.
