Ekeko Grill Peruano - Arequipa Center — Restaurant in Cerro Colorado

In spite of being inside a shopping mall (Arequipa Center), this is actually a somewhat upscale restaurant, locally expensive and with really good food, both in terms of ingredients and preparation. If you want to experience it on a budget, they offer a great deal on a business lunch at 26 Soles (less than 7 USD) which includes a first course (soup or salad) a main and a soft drink (including delicious home made lemonade). Not only everything is really good, but the portions are so generous that you will likely not have any room left for dessert. When it comes to the a la carte menu, a single burger costs as much as a full business lunch, but it honestly is equally as fulfilling, as it comes in a huge portion with lots of fries as a side. The grilled meat and fish are the local specialities, and they are worth every penny, being a bit expensive, but exceptionally good. Service is very attentive and fast, but in spite of them trying to sound like they are proposing something you might have not thought about, it is pretty evident that they have been trained to try and upsell either extra dishes or drinks. Not terribly annoying, but it gets a bit awkward to have to say "no thanks" so many times. Besides that, we've been back a couple of times and always enjoyed it....
