Peñonetti Pizzería & Wine-Bar — Restaurant in Ica

Posted on TripAdvisor and here as well. My partner and I stayed in Huacachina for two nights and every single meal at restaurants around the oasis was disappointing and awful. We decided on our second night that we just couldn't take another meal at one of those mediocre-at-best restaurants, and after researching places in nearby Ica, we took a tuktuk for 6 soles to this restaurant.

Wow. What a breath of fresh air. We had the garlic bread with cheese, a bolognesa, and a carbonara pasta. Our food came out quickly, piping hot (shouldn't be a pro but after eating in Huacachina, it is worth mentioning), and had great flavour.

Service was fantastic. He was attentive, friendly, and had a great personality. The price (43 PEN for the food + 10 PEN for a beer) was such a good value, especially after spending 80+PEN per meal in Huacachina.

We arrived at around 8 o'clock and the place was pretty empty, but by the time we left at 9:30, it was full.

I am writing a rave review and still don't think I do the place justice. It might just be the contrast with the terrible food in Huacachina that made this place so awesome to us, but we are leaving the restaurant content and our stomachs...

I've heard a lot of bad reviews about restaurants in Ica & Huacachina and this one was rated highly. Not that this restaurant was bad, but all I'll say is that I dread to think what the other places are like! Expensive for an average pizza and my pesto pasta was unlike any pesto I've had before, like it was in a powdered form? Very odd. The pasta portion was huge though so if you're hungry you'll be very well fed! The red wine was a choice of 2, one very expensive and the cheaper one (that I had) I swear was sangria as it was so so sweet!! We received lovely service on a Sunday even though the waitress did not speak english. We made it through with a bit of low-level Spanish and lots of gestures, and she was very nice to communicate with.

The menu is also in English, so you can read what you order if you don't know Spanish 😉

The overall taste impression of the pizzas is great!

But! The pizzas are surprisingly sweet - i have never in my life tasted so sweet pizzas before! We had one with ham and caramellized onions, and another with pineapple.

The one with pineapple became a bit too sweet for us towards the end, but it is still a 5* taste...
