Blue Elephant — Restaurant in Tarapoto

This is easily, hands down, the best food in Tarapoto, period. It's an oasis for real, good food. A treasure hidden in San Martín. Authentic Thai food with all of the flavors, spices, and spice level (if you want it) of this amazing culinary tradition. I'm Asian, have traveled through Thailand and Southeast Asia, and have a deep love for authentic Asian food so not only did this does not disappoint but it's unbelievable to find here in the jungle (thank you Universe!)

The ambiance is super nice for if you just want to chill or have a night night out, it's cozy, there's good music, and the staff are all lovely. Nacho the chef is super buena onda and I got to talk to him about inspiration and the dishes which was fantastic

My favorite dishes are the Pla Tum Tim Rad Prik (must try!), the curry, and the larb 🤤

Definitely come here if you are passing through Tarapoto and you are looking for a beautiful experience that is exotic, different, and tasty. Absolutely would be a shame to miss while you are here.

Also the portions are extremely generous and the prices are super reasonable for what is being offered. Cannot compare with anything else here.
