At Aviles Restaurant, you’ll find a refreshing and satisfying bowl of bulalo!
After a long morning of driving, our party of six decided to stop at Aviles’ for lunch and what a great decision it was!
You order at the front desk and other than bulalo, we ordered the following (I wanted pusit, but it was unavailable):
dinuguan okra and eggplant bangus mackerel Pepsi
Sides of rice, calamansi, sili and bagoong were quickly served. Also, mugs of broth were put before us. I didn’t know how weary and hungry I was until I sipped the broth and it all went away. I closed my eyes, savored the beefy soup and it invigorated me.
Then, a big steaming bowl of bulalo was served with a huge beef joint sticking out of it. A knife is provided to cut apart the meat, but you don’t need it. It was cooked for so long that the meat, tendons and connective tissues were all so tender and falling off the bone - a fork would do! A long bamboo skewer is provided to poke out the marrow. All the dishes were delicious, I highly recommend them.
The service was exceedingly nice and prompt. If you can, sit in the large room with aircon.
In the outer dining area, you can find lots of snacks and drinks as well.

Although there are other dishes you can order from their turo-turo style counter, treat them as an accompaniment to their main course, which is their bulalo. We have gone back from time to time over the years, and they have maintained their quality. Sadly, prices have risen, but that is understandable given how food prices in general are these days.
A must stop by place whenever you're in the Calamba area and hankering for a good and hearty...
Read moreI’ve been patronizing this place ever since I was introduced to this restaurant by a co worker in 2003.
I still dine there whenever I’m in the South (Laguna or Batangas area). Bulalo is still consistently good; though inflation caught up with their pricing. A bowl of bulalo now costs PHP900. Bulalo is my go to dish and is best paired with pinaputok na tilapia. Food’s still great and better than those joints...
