This was my first visit to Jack's Ridge. I am from USA but now live here in the beautiful Philippines. I had heard and read about it in quite a few places so I wanted to try it myself.
We arrived there at about 5:30 on a weekday so they were not too busy. We went there a couple weeks earlier on a Sat.evening but it was so busy we decided to leave but that told us this place must be good.
Sadly, I am not a seafood lover , but everyone with me was so they easily found things to order. I am searching for a place in Davao that has a GOOD steak, but that was not on there menu at all. I got onion rings for an appetizer, they were good but heavily breaded so could barely taste any onion. This was the first place that I have eaten in the Philippines that brought out the food like the appetizer ,,,, first. Most places just bring it as it is cooked and many times the appetizer was served last rather than first. Since I am not a seafood lover that limited my selection considerably so I got a chiefs salad and it was plenty big for a meal and was pretty good, just wish they had bread or crackers with it. Everyone else liked what they had also. Service was very good and friendly.
The view is nice but it was overcast the day we went so visibility was kinda limited.
They had live entertainment but we went too early and was just starting as we were leaving.
Prices were reasonable I thought , although there soft drinks seemed kinda high so I had beer which was cheaper than soft drinks which I thought was kinda odd but gave me the incentive to drink beer.
I would recommend you take mosquito spray since that became a problem after it got dark.
We will most defiantly go back again , although I will bring mosquito spray and crackers with me next time from home.
I would rate this among the top 3 places I have eaten so far here in Davao. The search for a good, tender beef steak continues , there must be someplace in Davao...

Read moreOkay, so, I'm going to be fully transparent here. This place was amazing. The view was about as good as it gets, unless you climb the beautiful Mount Apo. The food was even better than the view. The people were happy and lively, everything was really quite wonderful. Now, for the possible drawback! I rated this place 5/5 because I'm not 100% sure if the drawback was actually due to this place or not.
Sooo... I ate the most incredible Blue Marlin with some Knoor sauce, white rice with garlic, and washed it down with a quite delicious watermelon smoothie. The fish was probably one of the best tasting things I've had after visiting literally 13 different countries. So, what's the drawback (possible drawback)?
I got food poisoning later that night. Threw up three times. Not a big deal to me, honestly, luckily it wasn't worse than that. Was it the fish? The smoothie? Some random, small street foods I ate throughout the day? I have no idea, but I had a feeling it was the fish. To be honest, the fish was so good that it was kind of worth throwing up... lol. Would almost eat it again just to test it. Anyway... bring some antiacids... bring your adventurous heart... and do it anyway. One of the best memories of my recent trip to Davao...
